You're not the boss of me now.

You're missing a big piece of this. Every down turn results in R&D programs getting cut and thousands of engineers losing their jobs. This seriously stymies innovation. One example is optane. They could not command a good enough price for it and now it is a dead technology despite being extremely performative.

Also, supply is no where near as elastic as you think. If they are not very profitable, they will not build new fabs. Being profitable enables investment.

moashforbridgefour

No, I just want to have chips, so I need the chip makers to be profitable so that will continue.

I always feel a little crazy reading these threads. Everyone feels entitled to cheap memory, and the memory makers can just eat shit. Yeah, prices are high right now, but only a couple of years ago, all of the memory makers were losing billions of dollars. Despite that, they were all investing in new fabs, and people here have the audacity to claim they are artificially suppressing supply to fix prices. Maybe we all should consider that we have somehow had the good fortune of ridiculously cheap memory forever until literally this year.

Here's a tip for everyone. If memory companies don't make money, then we don't get memory. They have literally never made money like this before, so y'all can just let them cook for a minute.

Nothing wrong with wearing black though. I feel like people generally don't dress up enough for the important events, so you might as well dress up when the opportunity is there.

moashforbridgefour

He played his trump card. It was super effective.

moashforbridgefour

You should consider it. Gifted children face unnecessary challenges that can often be solved with advancement. Studies show that advancing a year has a significantly positive impact on gifted students, and very few say they regret it later on.

Just married paint is supposed to be cringe, and it is pretty much never written by the couple. It is the friends trying to embarrass the newly weds

They will have more cash on hand than that in 18 months. $100 per share is represents about $115B in total, and this year they are expected to have free cash flow over $200B. Unless they burn it all, it isn't really feasible for it to return to $100.

moashforbridgefour

We already have flying cars. They are called helicopters.

moashforbridgefour

This is just wrong. If I do it myself, everything is going to be perfect because I care and take my time. The only reason I would hire someone is because I don't have enough time to do it myself. If I give in and hire someone, I am invariably disappointed with the shoddy craftsmanship, and paying more isn't even a guarantee that I'll get a good result. Even the crappiest tradesman is charging downright insane rates now, though.

moashforbridgefour

This is just a silly and misleading metric. We aren't taxed on wealth, we are taxed on income. Even if we had a wealth tax, you would still expect their total tax burden to be a smaller percent of their wealth than lower income households, otherwise no one would ever be able to build wealth in the first place and we would all be forced to work until we die.

As a percentage of income, the wealthiest people have the highest effective tax rate. It is admittedly complicated because their income doesn't usually come from a salary and is harder to classify, and our current tax system probably doesn't do enough to tax their true growth in wealth. I personally think that any wealth used as collateral to secure loans ought to have its cost basis reset and the growth taxed.

Y'all are lazy SOBs. Instead of just speculating at how wrong everyone is and demanding "hard numbers", you could type that question into your favorite search engine. But I suspect the smug contrarion comments are all you actually care about.

The people with the money have obviously already defined the TAM. SpaceX recently claimed it is $1.6T, but BoA gave a more conservative TAM last year at around $200B. It is a ton of money any way you slice it. I'm sure you all know more than BoA does though.

moashforbridgefour

The TAM is still huge even if high density urban areas are not a good part of that market.

moashforbridgefour

Not per geo. A satellite talking to someone in Morocco is not going to reduce the bandwidth for someone in Montana.

moashforbridgefour

Because I spend most of my life at my job, and on the random day that I get off, I see tons of people just out walking in a park, shopping, exercising, etc. and I am jealous that I can't do that stuff everyday. So naturally I wonder, "do they even have jobs? If they do, what kind of job allows them to be doing things I would rather do than sit in an office all day?"

moashforbridgefour

I get the sense that driving this would feel more like piloting a large ship or barge than driving a truck.

moashforbridgefour

For real. "No issue, except I had to barricade myself in a hotel room to escape from the violence on the street." Yeah, these people have Stockholm syndrome.

Either I'm so bad at this game that I don't understand the 4D chess going on here, or you aren't your claimed rank, lol

A disruptive protest must have strict discipline of the participants in order to change the hearts of their countrymen. Read Dr. King's writing on the subject. When "protests" turn into riots and looting, it reveals the heart of the movement for what it actually is.

moashforbridgefour

The real trick is just to set up an ocm with the recruiting manager and trick them into an interview because it was already on their calendar.

moashforbridgefour

This is such a tired joke at this point. You can count on someone talking about soaking literally anytime Mormons are talked about.

moashforbridgefour

Mmm, don't you just love the smell of singed hair and rubber in the morning?

moashforbridgefour

Do you even realize how crazy you sound?
