Setting up a self-hosted agent should be a cakewalk. You can simply provision a VM in the cloud and run our installer, but for a proof-of-concept you could even just run it on your local machine (just don't leave it up permanently 😅).

I regularly run an agent installer on my local devbox when testing features and fixes.

Do you work somewhere where it would be inappropriate for them to have a coffee from a cafe with them? That's the only reason I can think of it being inappropriate during an interview.

If anything, I think they're being extra-prepared, not lazy!
