Nice, I'll DM you once I get a chance to dive in.

Nice! Yeah so history isn't stored on the character as you found out. I've left that up to the implementing apps to sort out given that's potentially a lot of data to store.

The data model itself is meant to be as small as possible so you can easily store a series of character versions. In fact, that's how I've chosen to implement it on the tool it was built for.

Regardless, let's share some notes!

mpigsley

That's the entire point. A standard allows you to transfer between tables and tools. Are there specifics I can help answer?

mpigsley

Hah, I linked it at the bottom of my post. Yeah... It's not lost on me that it's a new standard in a space where people have been developing tools for so long.

I didn't end up finding other formats or standards for characters like this, though. Do you know of others?

5.5e SRD has been included! I had the pack built before you asked so it ended up being a quick turnaround. Also added Starfinder.

mpigsley

Absolutely! There's a rich field definition that'll help you render those inputs correctly.

mpigsley

Yeah! Very interested. Send along any info you have! When you say RDF, do you mean Resource Description Framework?

mpigsley

The first round of systems I ended up implementing was a stress test of the system. So far I haven't found anything that doesn't fit.

With that being said, there are minor improvements to the engine that can systematize text found in some spells for example. Every new pack introduces new constraints and I'll be working with the engine to better express that.

mpigsley

By the way, been following your work for some time. Really like what you've done and how the app has grown. I'm the dev of sectorswithoutnumber.com.

mpigsley

Oh yeah, the Sine Nomine games would be great additions as their base free game covers basically all of the character definition.

mpigsley

5.5e is about ready to get merged in. I can let you know when it is!

mpigsley

This is the approach I have taken. Metered approach to intelligence, free otherwise.

👁️ Surveillance State: I voted No Flock cameras.

mpigsley

Yes! I’ve been using it to replace some legacy workflows. In my evals it’s been on par with smaller models from the leading labs while being an order of magnitude cheaper and faster. I’m able to run my pipeline more often for an overall cheaper end result.

I’d say it’s a tool I will be reaching for often.

mpigsley

I'm building an 'AI native' SaaS too, and roughly 95% of the code and features have nothing to do with the model. Astra ships generic video editing, not the specific workflow your users have, and a lab has no incentive to go that deep on one niche.

Where we've put our defensibility: distribution and SEO, features designed around one narrow use case a general tool won't bother with, and workflows focused on human interaction. None of that gets easier for a lab to copy just because their model got better.

mpigsley

Hey, you’re not wrong. Great reminder!

I’m pretty much only using a CLI based agent these days. Claude Code currently but most major CLIs function the same.

You can create skills. The skills are templated prompts that you can trigger. Here’s the documentation for CC: https://code.claude.com/docs/en/skills

mpigsley

Hey friend. Ideas are cheap. Any start-up needs to be out there, boots on the ground, talking with and validating with real people. A tool like this can not replace that critical step.

mpigsley

Oh yeah… what's that all about? Been noticing it a lot more recently.

mpigsley

Great news!

mpigsley

Roads break down over time, not all at once. The more we reject these measures, the more apparent it will become.

mpigsley

Roads need maintenance. Traffic never stops so maintenance never stops. It's not something that ends.

mpigsley

I’ve lived in cities where people have voted against measures like this. Potholes everywhere, roads you have to avoid entirely, and bridges marked critical yet are still in use.

There’s a balance, of course, but think carefully about your vote.

mpigsley

If I'm going to use software for online play, I want it simple. At this point I'd rather just have a paper character sheet.
