The Story by A'Ziah King

I got a bagel there on a whim recently. It was not a bagel. It was a bun that vaguely resembled a bagel. Never again.

I'm going to go against the grain and say it was just fine. Solid performances and competently made, but it felt like it was covering pretty well worn territory. Hereditary had already come out two years earlier and sort of put the nail in the coffin of family trauma metaphor horror. You've really got to do something new with that premise to make an impression.

And I really can't stand the cliche of someone chopping vegetables and then slicing into their own hand. Beyond that, the whole movie felt like a slideshow of scares I've seen done in other movies.

The phone conversation with the priest was probably the most chilling part and it would have been cool to see the real priest come into the story.

Looks great!

It was an amazing turn from him. He has such a storied career in movies across the spectrum of genre and quality. He deserves to be nominated, if not to win.

This is me about two seconds after I dismiss any weird theory about Twin Peaks:

If you didn't love Oddity, you won't like Caveat any more. I felt the same way about Oddity but I mostly loved Hokum, so go with that. He's become a solid filmmaker and his three movies have each been better than the last by leaps and bounds.

That first segment at the gas station is such a banger. And I could watch JC ham it up as the host for another two hours. It was originally intended as a TV series.

This one was really engaging. Except maybe the golf segment which was clearly an attempt at comic relief.

Dead of Night (1977) also from Dan Curtis and Richard Matheson is a fun follow up.

Ultrasound is really good, and anyone who hasn't seen it should be advised to go in as blind as possible.

I know you're only having fun but making fake stamps is a serious felony...nah, just kidding, Happy Halloween!

Ron? Pretty sure that's Les. Les Vegetables.

Will someone just shove a pie in this guy's face already?

The Blasting Company is touring and performing the soundtrack right now. Their show in Portland last week was an absolute banger.

Ridley Scott needs to let Alien go.

I'll take a big swing body horror movie anytime. That said, this feels more like it could have debuted on HBO with a smaller budget.

Bambi, A Life in the Woods by Felix Salten

They mentioned something in the show about wanting it to be an annual thing like Rocky Horror but I wasn't sure if they meant touring or just the show bring rewatched every year. I didn't look to closely at the merch table though. I hope they do it annually!

Everyone gave each other a little space and there weren't any obnoxious folks pushing their way through the crowd. Just an awesome collection of people.

"That pointy cone upon your head, you can't be wearing that!"

Almost exactly three hours.
