If I was wearing my full conspiracy hat I think stories like these are planted to try and get people to not vote as it would be "pointless" as they've "rigged the system". Trump benefits if there's a large portion of non-voters and I don't see their voter base growing so its more about keeping the other side either supressed, or better still, at home on voting day.
