actually ran this by accident instead of rm -rf * on the work computer few days ago

Pretty much same here, I work in non-gamedev graphics. Writing your own AI code + reviewing AI code takes such a huge amount of mental compute to work through and understand that most people have just been ignoring it and failing to understand how things work, because there's already pressure from management to speed up production. IMO AI still still don't produce the most human readable code or architecture, and it took me a day of prompting and writing MD files to make it a lot cleaner architecturally, but Ill probably just ignore it from now on since management fails to understand it, and keep my mind sharp by working on my own projects

Ranting about this from work

Theres this: https://www.qt.io/blog/2d-rendering-introducing-qt-canvas-painter

which using the HTML Canvas API and is hardware-accelerated so its "modern" in a way

Sometimes it's not about the destination, but the journey that let you reach it

don't think this would be possible with just one shader, it probably needs a pre pass to construct SDFs out of raster shapes

Looks like I cant do it since Im not a citizen :(

Are there any bodies that have been protesting? It would be nice to take part on a stand against this

nibbertit

got this in the mailbox and by the guy himself in person, because he was convinced I had a chip, he is definitely in some psychosis or mania and I feel bad for him

...you can order from prisma??

its up to you and how you design your game, there is no right or wrong. Also depends on how you define "realism". VR will be much more visually demanding so Im not sure how why youd cut quality in standalone

you might be interested in using https://doc.qt.io/qt-6/qtcanvaspainter-index.html

Not exactly sure what you mean - the customers are corporations and will involve multiple teams

nope

I used nvim for quite a while (even at my graphics job) but switched to Qt Creator a month ago and probably not going back. Its a text editor, so you can use it for anything

The SDO is connected (blue wire) but I get no reading from it, or 00 00 00 00 from the code I have. Dont know about inversion mode, but shouldnt changing the fill color have some form of effect still? Switching it around doesnt seem to do anything

you can get a decent entry to midrange gaming laptop in that range, it will run unreal fast enough for learning purposes. I would suggest a desktop though which would be much faster in that range than a laptop

nibbertit

you can find all the tools you need and more at gpuopen.com for amd

In the winter there's nothing to do so we just sit on the computer

with C# and Unity you are pretty much limited to studios which use Unity. For AAA you have a lot of competition which is very familiar with C++. Not everyone will work on the gameplay systems and other areas of developing the engine or framework will most likely require knowledge of C++

Virtually the whole software industry is embracing AI code assistance

yeah, no
