If those paid features are useful, why doesn’t someone fork it and build them for free?

how build them for free ? you need to build them for entrprize level, where companies will write TBs worth of data in logs, system errors and other things, they will expect immediate support in terms of deploy, bug fixing, and sometimes even on site support. how one guy will provide this, and even if he does, why will companies prefer him over the actual creators of the tool

And how does a company decide what stays free without the community getting upset?

I have a laptop A and monitor B Suppose I want this to be default behaviour

When monitor is connected to laptop , I want laptop screen to turn off, when I unplug it, laptop screen should turn on.

Now say if I have 2 monitors A and B and laptop C
