I agree with OP comment about Kiseki Himura. Honestly, I don't know why he is allowed to adapt 2 volume of the novel. Retrospective, the plot is downright insulting to the original novel. Bekkou Rico/Yamada Kotaro should be allowed to adapt SAO.

Honestly, I preferred this version. I know people like Himura artstyle, but, the adaptation was off putting. It wasn't for me at all. I have many reasons on disliking the previous mangaka adaptation too(Ex: Shiomi Miyoshi, Puyocha). So far, promising start.
