I assume that's part of the CRL ramp up over the next year already, no?

I did some digging and it was actually Wintec! Back then it was called Hamilton Technical College, but from what I'm reading it's the exact same institution, founded and build there in 1924.
Interestingly, the building was there before the hill was even cut away, with the slope planned to make sure the building could stay up there.
I ran into a really interesting photo gallery read through of the history of the area, for anyone else curious: https://digitalnz.org/stories/5ac8a2bbfb002c29e03b0be4
It does kind of make me sad to see that we clear out a hill that had so much potential as a city landmark. And from what I'm reading, the plan was literally going to be to take a garden hill, replace it with the car park you see in the OP, and call that a great success and huge improvement over just digging a tunnel for Anglesea Street.

I posted before reading other replies, read the replies and realised either you're just an idiot, or this is not a question and all your looking for is a discussion about how much we all hate those parties.
You have an answer, but you respond to the answer with sarcasm before repeating the question that was answered.
normalmighty
People say exactly the same thing about equivalent left parties.

I like the posts, but mods should probably just make a stick post with all the helpful voting links like this so it doesn't flood the sub.
normalmighty
Well, I was going to vote early, but now I'm looking at the map and there's a voting spot only open on the 7th which is literally 20 metres from my front door.
Way too tempting to pass up.

There was zero chance in this age with the internet tailoring everyone to their own niche feed of information that everyone was going to have heard about the change.
I've been one of those annoying people reminding all my friends, family and coworkers to enroll, and I ran into multiple people just last week who had no clue it was a thing and went rushing off in a panic to enroll.

The image is literally just a logo. It's there making the email look pretty, not actually part of the easy vote card.
normalmighty
Some email providers like Outlook also block images like this until you click a button at the top to download them. It could be that as well.
That said, I just checked mine and the image is just the logo lol, they're fine.
I think the email is just confusing because people expect a QR code or something, not just a 6 digit code and the name of their electorate.

I mean I kind of want some fresh blood in parliament. I've seen how our "experienced" politicians handle things, and I am not impressed.
normalmighty
All these no good politicians doing a bunch of policy making instead of focusing on their job, smh
normalmighty
Oh my fucking God. That's so much more absurd than I imagined
normalmighty
I think what you're missing is that the upper splitter is being fed by a lift
normalmighty
That's fair. As far as the fanfic-y comment I made, I only think it'll be like that if they use a dark avatar and light avatar with vaatu and raava as the explanation. There are plenty of other ways they could go to explain it. Ideally imo a single overarching explanation that intrinsically links the cataclysm, the 200 year gap, and the new avatars being twins.
normalmighty
Roku's twin died years before Roku found out he was the avatar. They could easily have both been avatars and the twin drowned before finding out. It's completely ambiguous, with no indication either way.
Funnily enough I've seen Roku haters (I'm not a Roku hater myself) saying that the reason he was such a bad avatar must have been that he was meant to be one half of the avatar in a Yin Yang way the same as Pavi and Nisha, but instead he was the equivalent of one of the twins alone, without the balance he needed.
Of course, that theory rides on the premise of him being an exceptionally bad avatar, so I'm not jumping on that bandwagon yet lol
normalmighty
I'm so ready for the faceless to work with the white lotus and rescue one of the twins, giving Zi her chance to get the Daemin romance going. I ship them so hard right now
normalmighty
I don't think there's a big twist in the cosmic order of the avatar universe causing it, I think it's simply the result of the avatar being born as twins. Personally that intuitively makes sense, and it lets them focus less on big Avatar lore implication stuff, and more on two avatars with their own strengths and weaknesses, leaning on each other to form a greater whole.
There's so much depth here for thematic storytelling and deep exploration, which I think is undermined rather than enhanced by turning it into a Raava and Vaatu thing.
I wouldn't hate it going in that direction, but I'm very skeptical that they are, and would prefer that they don't. It feels like it would be pushing the story back into the more fanfic-y territory that a lot of people were scared of when twin avatars as a concept for the show were first revealed.
normalmighty
That's just people trying to predict the plot, and a lot of the first half of the season read on a story structure level as them establishing the twins' bond so the viewer feels it when something tears them apart.
Not wanting to separate them, just speculating on what the writers are planning.

I had to look up the episode titles for next week, just to make sure they weren't about to pull that
Poor baby's been through more than enough trauma, I need someone to come in and help her next episode!
normalmighty
She's anti-avatar right now, but I feel like of the havens we saw, hers is the most likely to be open to the truth about the avatar and the realization that the avatar is a force of balance rather than destruction.
normalmighty
I am willing to immediately all my misgivings about any character that steps in to help Nisha next episode. I don't case if it's the lotus members from other havens, the faceless or some random group of brigade members. Someone help my poor girl!
normalmighty
I imagine a lot of people who haven't rewatched ATLA recently and also haven't followed online discussions are in the same boat.
Anyone who remembers Aang unlocking his chakras in ATLA will recognize it, but I highly doubt the majority of general, non subreddit visiting viewers remember that episode clearly enough to realize.
normalmighty
I hope this is the kind of music we get every time any sort of cosmic chakra or avatar state thing happens. It was done beautifully here.
normalmighty
Aang was always uniquely close to the spiritual side while struggling with the physical. It's not a big surprise that he gain access to the avatar state so soon.
I always get Jumpscared by Winston Peters on these transport articles before I remember this is one of the few places where his views align with mine.
