Puffco hot knives suck. I been through 3 randomly dying within 60 days. Bear Quartz or Focus for hot knives.

I would opt for the Focus V Saber hot knife (it has adjustable temp, LED light and replaceable tips) or the Bear Quartz tool that also has a IR thermometer built in.

EDIT: agreed on the pearls. I had ran one 4mm for a while which only caused splash back and oil getting sucked up by the atomizer. Without a pearl, I turned up the temp a little and no issues with oil getting messy anymore.

after having two onyx Puffco hot knives die on me within 6mo, I purchased a saber. Feels better, seems to heat up quicker, and has a nice LED on the business side to help in low light seshing.
