Ironically if that is the case, then it would be best to not teach any religion because then god can't really punish anyone for not having the "correct" theology.

It's absolutely possible to do the entire trip with public transport. Just make sure you know where the gare routiere is and be there by like 8h00 when you are ready to move on to the next place.

The Quran confirms that Muhammad is the first Muslim, so you would be correct.

Say (Muhammad): "Verily, I am commanded to serve Allah with sincere devotion;

"And I am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah in Islam." (Quran 39: 12-13)

I think we choose to come here to experience/learn more about ourselves and others. In that way, if we chose to come here and chose to have certain experiences, then it really isn't on God. I don't really view God as a being who directs specific things; it's more on us. I guess it's a bit like existentialism rather than destiny. Or maybe free will.

Anyhow I don't believe in hell or "paradise", it's more like we just go to another home after death which is more real than this life.

It is interesting to see people put their bodies thru hell and live longer and better than people who are careful. Remember Keith Richards is still alive.

This is an odd hadith I came across. Seems impossible to justify daughters going to hell by any sense of morality:

‘Amir reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying : The woman who buries alive her new-born girl and the girl who is buried alive both will go to Hell. This tradition has also been transmitted by Ibn Mas’ud from the Prophet (May peace be upon him) to the same effect through a different chain of narrators.

Grade: Sahih (Al-Albani) Reference : Sunan Abi Dawud 4717

I've been told several times that Jews don't really have a concept of hell as others do, and don't really focus on it. Given that they are the originators of the Abrahamic religions, it makes sense to wonder why God waited to develop the idea of hell to later groups, especially the Muslims where it is constantly invoked.

I'd only add that there is no natural or required progression for morality and so in that sense I agree. There's no way of knowing if strongly patriarchal societies will return and be the norm in the future. As with caste systems etc. I think though that there is a place for comparing moral systems that does identify a kind of progression that can be put on a timeline. Civic rights like voting rights would be one. But maybe absolute monarchies will return and be the 'modern' form of government in 100 years.

I wonder if there is a possible court challenge about limits on seizing property.

Should be noted that Senegal has some similarity to France with respect to the strength and activity of unions

On a much lighter note there was a rumor that I was romantically involved with another teacher who was pregnant and I was the supposed father. This was 20+ years ago. She and I decided to just play dumb for the laughs and see where it would go. We are both white and the real father of her baby was a dark-skinned African.

So she went on maternal leave and a few weeks later she brought the baby to school (while still on leave). We had a good laugh as all the rumors stopped because it was very clear I was not the father.

I have to admit the comments about this elsewhere have been hilarious.

Problem is that I don't understanf Arabic. If Allah wants to impress me he would need to release a version in English. Alas.

Also, Shakespeare is an absolute genius at literary devices across multiple plays, but it's not proof he was a prophet.
