I used to work here! 14 years ago. Horrified it's still operating- they certainly treated their staff like shit when I worked there, hopefully it's not as bad still.

I'm in marketing. One of the common entry level jobs when I started was content creator, meaning writer (videos/ graphics weren't yet considered content)- social media captions, blogs, brochure copy, and other forms of short form writing. That job doesn't exist anymore. Which is a pity, because we're not going to get senior editors without junior writers coming into industry.

But I do understand it. Marketing budgets are slimmer than ever. I am department manager, meaning I control and allocate the marketing budget; I'd be mad to hire a content creator with AI available. I try to compensate with on job training, but ultimately you're just not going to get the aame quality writers anymore, as people don't have to put effort in to improve, so they won't.

I laboured for 3 days, and the most painful thing I've ever experienced was wisdom teeth removal surgery recovery.

Difficult to say with certainty. I could say that I don't believe your experience would be different than a white tourists, but I don't have the personal experience to confidently assert that. South Africa has many issues with racism, but we also acknowledge it very openly and to that end work on it.

Black people (this is the term we use in South Africa) are much more likely to be the victim of a crime in South Africa, but that has much more to do with current socio economic circumstances than skin colour.

Ultimately, I think if you go to tourist places and do tourist things, you'll be fine. It is a lovely country, and one of the best places in the world to experience.

This happened at my university. It was the second uni I had attended (undergrad and postgrad) and the second uni where I was just one degree of seperation away from a brutal rape and murder victim. This particular murder was the last straw for me- I now live in Australia. RIP Uyinene, Hannah and the countless women who have lost and continue to lose their lives to GBV in South Africa.

My roommates and I used to determine rent thus:

Add the square footage/meterage of the single use spaces). Divide the rent by that number. Multiply the rent based on the amount of single use space you would have:

E.g., in a house where one room is 20m2 and the other is 30m2, and the rent is 3k, the first person would pay 1200, and the second would pay 1800.

It helped that we chose our spaces based on this- who wants to get and pay for the larger more expensive rooms etc. It is very equitable.

Posting this without context or warning is not appropriate. Hannah also doesn't deserve to have this horrible trauma used for clickbait. Do better.

Give them everything they need to get ahead, and have them work for the things they want.

ostockles

Absolutely not- I'll never move back.

My husband and I have switched to cash to budget better- we've started doing the envelope method and it's working very well. Harder to not think about the impact of your spends when it's tangible.

This particular influencer has 'rage bait' in her description, so maybe pinch of salt on this one.

Honestly hated mark brandanowitz

Which country do you live in?

ostockles

Like yeah, that's aimed at primarily tourists, so thinking from an Australian point of view- 80 bucks for 3 mains, 9 drinks and an extra side is really good value 😜

ostockles

Really well said.

That's a ikea gnedby unit with a second one assembled, cut down to the size of the other billy extensions, and placed on top.

ostockles

It's 3 40cm shelves with the extensions and then the gnebdy with a second gnebdy cut in half and attached on top.

Do you sit cross legged?

I am also three degrees of separation from Hitler.

I met King Charles, who met Willis Simpson (among many who then met:) Hitler.

I went to apply for a job as a waitress because I was bored on my first day back at uni. I ended up walking out after getting the job and randomly seeing an acquaintance (not someone I ever hung out with, just knew, and I was bored), who was having drinks with a guy I'd never met. That guy and I have now been together for 13 years now, two kids, moved continents together, the works.

She's 37 actually. She did a series of stories about having had an abortion when she was 19, and so she could actually have had a college age child herself at this point. Just got married late.

She does, also, seem like a total fucking nutcase.

I'm in the same boat. I just don't see that they have a reasonable plan to have a sustainable economy, which would prevent them from actually having any long term scope to implement their social policies.

As someone with experience of it and exposure to it, what is the most valuable thing your money can buy? Time? Influence?

This is a tricky one because you should absolutely have empathy for your self and deserve full understanding for the clear effects of intergenerational trauma.

The difficulty is that, more important that that first consideration, is that your daughter deserves to be in a safe environment that she can rely on. I am not saying you don't deserve to be her parent- I'm saying you have to take this seriously and get help from a doctor and a therapist.
