This is definitely authentic.

pakman_2011

The audacity of some people is mind blowing lol

pakman_2011

It's authentic 💯. Shame about the label.

pakman_2011

It's authentic 💯

pakman_2011

I replaced the rear half of the shell in the final picture lol.

pakman_2011

This is fake.

pakman_2011

Yep legit 💯

Since you're just starting out I suggest getting a good quality 60W soldering iron with temperature control. A hot air station will also be useful on small boards like this but for more advanced work like removing chips. You can probably get one of those later after getting good at basic soldering and moving on to micro soldering.

This particular fix actually required a hot air station to melt the blobs because someone used solder with a high melting point but this was an exception. I've fixed lots of Pokemon games with this kind of damage using just a soldering iron, good flux and soldering wick.

Do you have more pictures of the Platinum game and case? The case artwork and the back of the cartridge? I've never seen a Platinum case without the GBA slot.

pakman_2011

Yes legit 💯

I can fix this for you if you're open to shipping to Texas. I recently fixed a Mario Kart 64 that had a large crack going across the entire board. This is pretty easy for me compared to that.

pakman_2011

Legit 💯

pakman_2011

Yep legit 💯

pakman_2011

Legit European version

pakman_2011

Definitely fake.

pakman_2011

Both games are legit

Feel free to use my spreadsheet to fine tune 😊. I would also love to hear your feedback on it if possible.

pakman_2011

Do you have a total count? I have 987 not counting GBA video.

pakman_2011

I have 1022 games on my list compared to Gameye's 1010. I wonder what the difference is 🤔

I know this post is old but I just posted a Google Spreadsheet with a list of all North American released GBA games: https://www.reddit.com/r/GameboyAdvance/comments/1x31mar/list_of_all_game_boy_advance_cartridges_released/

There's no way a first timer can do this in one hour lol. Pretty sure you're referring to another console and not a 3DS. I've been doing these since years and it still takes me 1.5 hours to do a good job.

pakman_2011

I'm the admin for a Facebook 3DS collectors group and have fixed these consoles for a lot of group members. Message me if you would like me to fix it. Most people say they'll fix it but mess up something or the other like losing some screws or putting them back in the wrong place. Or breaking tabs off the plastic shell during disassembly. I'm a perfectionist and will make sure it is in the exact same shape as it was prior :) I'm located in Texas.
