Couldn’t you say the same thing about what’s happening to the Palestinians then? If that’s your logic then be consistent.
palsc5
Tickets to the tournament were $25 and 17 and under was free. Claiming it is a tournament that will bring people into the state is simply not true.
palsc5
They don’t own the Australian Open, Golf Australia do. Courses apply to host the tournaments or GA approach courses (depends on the type of course).
It’s a GA event, it isn’t an event that one random golf course each year gets to put on and keep all the money. It’s no different to a music festival paying the Showgrounds to host their event.
SA is paying Golf Australia (again, the numbers are hidden from the public) but generally GA will collect all the ticket sales and media rights etc. The course can make money through food and beverage (see Kooyonga in 2018) but it’s peanuts in the scheme of things.
palsc5
Because it was running a tiny loss that the council covered, they sit around breakeven each year. They won’t cover a loss of millions year after year.
They don’t keep the ticket money, they get paid a fee and then are able to negotiate for food and beverage, parking etc. they also have much higher costs to put on the event and lose their usual income. Grange didn’t make enough money to justify keeping LIV and that had way more money floating around.
After the first LIV event and even with $400 rounds and $7,000 membership fees, Grange only made $500k in profit. How is north Adelaide going to somehow make it work with $40 rounds and the same costs?
palsc5
No, we know that championship golf courses cost more to maintain. That is not only plainly obvious but also verifiable by doing even the most basic research.
What we don’t know is how much more it’s going to cost because the government reckon they don’t even know.
The course wasn’t profitable as it was. How is it going to be profitable now? The only real option is to jack up the price and make golf inaccessible to people who don’t want to pay $140 a round or $8,000 membership fees
palsc5
Ah yes, people from all over the world will fly in to watch the Australian Women’s Open. Demand is so high they’ve raised the prices to…$25.
palsc5
The state government has refused to release the costs to maintain, they say they won’t actually know until it’s operating. They have also refused to release any business case.
The Australian Open attendance is about 50-65% of LIVs attendance except for the year they paid McIlroy to attend. The Australian open is also about half the price to attend, it’s nowhere near the draw LIV was.
The women’s open is nowhere near as popular. The Australian open attendance is actually the combined attendance of the women’s and men’s tournament and it’s still half of LIV at half the price.
The idea that tens of thousands of people are going to spend thousands travelling to Adelaide for a weekend to watch the women’s Australian open is ludicrous.
Motorsport can make money. F1 was great, Supercars are not in the same league and MotoGP is a big gamble because it simply isn’t popular. It may work for a year or two due to the novelty but it’s not a long term winner.
palsc5
We’re not maintaining a championship level golf course, we’re maintaining a decent public course. The difference is night and day, as is the cost to maintain.
The existing golf course is a decent public course that is $45 to play on a weekend. That’s brilliant. If the course is expected to make money then they’ll need to charge what other similar courses charge which range from $150-$500 per round ($500 largely only in expensive private courses, not public ones).
The events aren’t going to bring anyone unless we pay huge money (as in tens of millions per year) to McIlroy and co.
They haven’t even released a business case and last I read when they were asked how much it would cost to maintain they said they wouldn’t know until they built it. It’s crazy
palsc5
Nobody cares about the Australian Open. The only time they came close to LIV Adelaide’s attendance numbers was when they paid millions to Rory Mcilory to turn up. Unless you want state money given to Rory, Tiger and other big names then you won’t see anything that requires the course they’re building.
This is going to be a drain on the state/city for decades. Maintaining a championship golf course is very expensive and requires far more staff than the current course, it will simply get its budget cut and become an embarrassment.

So you stand against the SAS soldiers who reported him and others like him?
palsc5
No they didn’t. It was people wishing the team well
palsc5
It’s mind bending idiocy to try and claim he did anything wrong here. He took the job before the war started and left as soon as the season finished. The video had nothing to do with genocide and it was recorded right after October 7th so long before what’s happening now.
It’s pathetic how you are using misleading screenshots and exploiting the deaths of innocent people and genocide in Palestine as leverage to push for your preferred manager.
palsc5
The video is multiple clips of club employees serving as reservists wishing the team well. One clip shows one artillery shell being fired, not “missiles”. It was also few weeks after October 7.
Not to mention Keane started there before the war started and then left 8 months into the war.
Keane wasn’t even in the video ffs.

I’m saying it already is a public amenity, it doesn’t need to be championship level to be a great public amenity.
The current course is one of the best publicly accessible courses in Adelaide. It was also partway through some significant improvements which have all now been binned. We have multiple championship level courses in Adelaide already, they just cost an arm and a leg for non members because that’s the only model that works for that level of course (outside of significant subsidies).
The aquatic centre is a public amenity.

It didn’t happen because of executive power. He didn’t have a visa and so was deported.

Do you just ignore facts because you’re afraid some neckbeard on reddit will call you a bootlicker?
palsc5
Ok then answer the questions. What do you cut and how much tax increase will you pay?
To pay the rate they want it’s an extra $1,000 per taxpayer per year. The public service are also looking for a hefty increase. We also need to increase our education spending, have an algal bloom decimating some industries, have serious issues in the health department with ramping and have a housing crisis that requires massive amounts of building snd infrastructure.
It absolutely matters how much we spend and how much debt we’re in. In fact if previous governments didn’t go into debt we could more than cover these pay increases with our interest payments.
palsc5
Except all of those things are either a) not really issues or b) enforced properly.
Littering isn’t a big issue in Australia and people do get fined (at least in my area). Tailgating is enforced. Cars are defected all the time for illegal mods. Go through an rbt in a mid 90s skyline with a loud exhaust and see if they don’t inspect that thing

That and the final speaker at the Melbourne event was Thomas Sewell

This is the guy on the panel with Bryson.
“Internet commies”. Mate, the guy you are in some cult like following is covering up the Epstein files while appointing sex offenders to positions and you can’t even see it because you’re so freakishly obsessed with him
No, it’s because they eat more junk food lol. Do you really think people are obese because they are eating larger serves of salad and chicken breast? Or do you think it’s because they’re eating a full sugar coke, large chips, gravy, deep fried chicken breast with a ice cream for dessert then a few tim tams with a cup of tea (2 sugars) before bed?
