Probably based off of an old joke. “Pete and Repeat were on a [boat/bridge/fence]. Pete fell off. Who was left?” When they say “Repeat,” you repeat the joke.

Thank you! I love sharing new words as much as I love learning them!

Thank you for this. As a Virginian, Jefferson is always painted as some high-minded, compassionate genius, when he built Monticello as a panopticon where he could see his slaves working at all times. I’m glad that opinions are changing.

If you want to talk about a real contemporaneous hero of his time, look up Robert Carter III. He was the grandson of Robert “King” Carter, who owned hundreds of slaves. He was unable to legally free the slaves he inherited from his grandfather en masse, so he individually manumitted over 500 slaves - 70 years before the Civil War (much to the appall of his peers, who attacked him and his lawyer multiple times, leading him to flee to Maryland, where he lived until he died). He also left land to his former slaves, who established one of the early Freetowns in Virginia.

Even if you’re not religious, you might want to speak to the hospital chaplain. Their job is to be kind, compassionate and comforting to oeople who are scared and grieving. When I was in a coma, my fiancée spoke to the hospital chaplain and it genuinely helped her, even though she’s not religious.

I’m so sorry, OP. My heart is with you.

Thankfully no! She has a skin tag on her elbow and she’s had a couple of accidents in the night recently but she’s almost nine. Shockingly enough, she only had two genetic markers for predisposition towards illness, and they’re pretty minor + she’s never shown signs and her bloodwork is great. My guess is that some BYB dumped her at the shelter as a puppy because she was the wrong color (her siblings are all black, look the same, and weren’t rescues. She’s the color of a yellow lab, and her ears don’t stand up). I adopted her at 4.5mo and she had spent 2.5mo in a shelter, then a rescue. Here she is begging for 1 almond

My 80% GSD 20% Pyr has a COI of 33% … most mutts have a COI of 3% 😭

pegmatitic

I’m seeing Boston terrier x pit too

pegmatitic

You got two of the breeds, well done! Esp since her other breeds besides GSD are a real grab bag

pegmatitic

Looks like a Malinois, maybe GSD x Malinois cross because of the length of the snout and the ears

Overtoun Bridge in Scotland, was just reading about it!

NAD, but physical trauma can definitely cause AA. I hit my head and developed AA, steroid injections got me from 80% hair loss to 80% regrowth

There’s an excellent book by Atul Gawande called Being Mortal that addresses the topic

There’s really sloppy retouching, esp in photo 2, that actually serves to show how amazing her skin is - it’s so unnecessary

pegmatitic

I was too distracted by the sloppy retouching in photo 2, there’s literally a LINE on her thigh where they retouched her skin from the hip up

Yeah, my Labrador deceiver (a blonde 80% GSD/20% Pyr mix) has webbed toes. It’s all part of her deceit
