Edit: I just need to find something that really deserves it. Something really odd and twisted.

Because the formulas are patented, the formulas used are public information. I'm not a patent lawyer, but here's what I've found:
PointsPlus value = protein/10.94 + carb/9.21 + fat/3.89 - fiber/12.5
Alcohol is judged differently. As a cheat sheet:
| Booze | Points |
|---|---|
| Red Wine | 4 |
| White Wine | 3 |
| 1 Jigger Alcohol | 4 |
| Beer (12 oz) | 5 |
| Light beer | 4 |
| Super light beer | 2 |
The calculation for daily points+ target is significantly more complex. It;s very well described here.
For women (weight in kg and height in m):
A =387 - (7.31 * age) + 1.14 * (10.9 * weight + 660.7 * height)
B = A*.9 +200
Points+ Daily target = min(max((B-1000) / 35 - 11, 29), 71)
So pretty much that means that you take (B-1000)/1000, subtract 11. If that's less than 29, you get 29. If it's between 29 and 71, you get that many. The max you get is 71. It's similar for men.
Messaged the mods - this is definitely a backpacking trip :) 42 miles in about 6 days.
