Snow damaged the the trail a year or two ago I think. They are fixing it.

It is writing extreme fast assembly, then formally proving the correctness of it, and I'm producing 2x the research, aka profitting. I did this a couple days ago. I could not do this on my own.
This is no joke. See the links I posted below. For sure the best thing you can do is learn ai. Also learn cryptography or some other advanced degree. This idea that it is all slop is simply not true.
I've been an avid programmer and love cryptography and I no longer write code simply because I can not compete with it. Sometime I have to coach it to write better code but I'm not writing it any more. And I think soon even I can't coach it. With respect to cryptography proofs, it's now good at math and formally proving things. In some ways better than me and I think I can hold my own in terms of interesting results.
Best case scenario humans and AI will collaborate. The Ai will be like rocket fuel for research. It's a must have if you want to compete. Worse case is that it's simply too good to keep up with and then we are just giving it use cases to solve.
In my opinion at least.

This is no longer true in my opinion. The latest models have been a step change for hard math. I think they have been using lean to teach it to write proofs. Is it perfect, no, but look at the trajectory...

There are jobs. There is deploying and implementing new systems. Not everything is as a simple as just using aes or whatever. It's rare you implement a building block but building systems is common. The real question is how Ai impact things. But cryptography and security is as safe as anything else so I'd say go for it.

Mine we like 4 month old and maybe 4 hours. Maybe a defect but idk. Pretty bad.

I bet he's employed far more people than any jobs that were cut.... 🤔

One way to think about it is you need to make sure you can't express the output as some kind of "linear" function of the input. In practice, this means you need to mix linear and non linear operations.
Mod N is linear in the number system modulo N (it's basically a no op). But then if you expressed the shift and xor operation in terms of Z_N it's a highly nonlinear operation.
Conversely, if we look at everything mod 2, the xor and shift is linear but then the mod N is a highly nonlinear operation.

Consider the 2 out of n case. The two case results in P(x) being a line. Any two points on the line define the line. for the 3 case, any 3 points on a parabola. Once you have P, you can read off m. You can look up the formula for it but that's the idea, get enough points on the curve and the reconstruct the polynomial P(x). Then read off m, ie as the coefficients or similar.
peterrindal
For message m=(m0,..., m_{k-1}),
P(x) = sum_i mi x^ i
Is the polynomial with mi as it's coefficients. It's some curve. Much like y=a x + b is a line...
A codeword of m is basically
(P(0),P(1),...,P(n-1))
The first n y values of the curve P.
Except that we don't use x in the range 0,1,...,n-1 because it's more efficient to use special x values that make it more efficient to compute. So called roots of unity.

Chill. The comment is about policy. Clearly policy matters. The amount of enforcement is a choice. You can go too far either way. My claim/opinion is if someone calls the cops on this, the cops should respond in a timely manner. The same thing applies to other situations. We should have enforcement to a "reasonable" degree. It's not a crazy idea lol

You = us as a society.

This type of thinking is the problem. Yes, it's a small crime. And yes, if the da won't follow through then I don't blame the officers. But you can not allow crimes in the broad daylight. It's the principle. Stop the misdemeanor and you'll stop the felonies.

I saw you guys working, Thanks a lot!

Oh, you caught me

The owners have rights too. The employees are not forced to work there. If they quit, maybe the the employer will feel the pressure to raise wages etc. Market forces, bla bla bla.

Triple des is still semi widely deployed haha. Source, me, I worked at Visa.
But I agree. Gotta start somewhere.

No. There is movement but it does not make sense to rush it. Quantum remains overhyped although progress continues. Chains can update in not a terrible amount of time. Maybe not all apps will remain functional but the chains can simple add a new signature. Pqc is not as efficient as pre quantum schemes so migration has cost as well.
I'd be more concerned about trad Fi. A lot of old deployments out there.
Don't take my word, Dan boneh was just talking about this https://youtu.be/XZN6xGtccqA?si=VIMys6aLTcYf5MT7

People are using it in narrow applications. Password breach checks is an example of it being used. There are others, database search, fraud detection, private blockchain, etc. Small deployments. Check out zama. Progress will continue but do not expect theoretical breakthroughs. Tooling will likely be the biggest improvement over the next 5 years.

You got it! Keep your ropes tidy ;)

Here was my attempt. Not sure if it's better. https://ladnir.github.io/blog/2022/01/24/macoro.html

It does. Opens a second websocket. Was an easy addition to codex. Maybe 50 lines or something.
Codex in general seems very flexible. Could imagine doing a lot more...
The US should require joint ventures so we can steal the tech this time ;)
