It's definitely tough at first. Eventually it does become second nature.

My biggest challenge was, ironically, that the parry window is absolutely huge, so for a while I thought I was failing my parries when I was actually succeeding. The post parry animation when you're not against a flurry is also a dead giveaway.

It's not Sekiro/khazan/onimusha though, agreed

I died 10 times against one of the first real boss (not the tutorial) until I realized I was trying to perfect dodge its red move with B instead of RB. I thought it was input lag or the timing was off.

I felt quite silly.

phoenixmatrix

Not too surprising. Big budget Chinese games love their cinema. Wukong had a few too.

People are emotional as an aggregate, and work like a rubber band. They eventually snap. Doesn't matter if it makes sense or not.

Don't hold your breath. After that you have to compile the shaders, and it's the slowest shader compilation step I've ever seen. Im at 12 minutes or so for 77% on a reasonably beefy machine.

phoenixmatrix

Of course. But it does mean the half functioning government doesn't represent the population. Thus every now and then, people snap and you get something like Trump happening.

phoenixmatrix

For diner pancakes you want shitty grocery store breakfast syrup, else it doesn't taste right.

For everything else, yeah, maple syrup for sure (I am Canadian)

Reminds me of the LCD backlight bleed that people would see only when in pitch black darkness, and were in fact totally normal. The amount of perfectly good monitors and TVs that were returned over this probably raised the price for everyone.

If someone's unhappy with their TV they totally should return it, especially since LG is far from the most ethical company, but I'm sure if people didn't read these forums, 98% would be happy with their purchase and never give it a second thought or notice.

So, Cid and Chocobos, with a Shiva thrown it? Got it! (they are great games though).

Little known fact but even a plain old cold (which to be fair, can be countless different viruses) can last as much as 10+ days.

And something that happened to my wife recently was catching multiple infections in a row. A regular cold that became a bronchitis/pneumonia adjacent, and then at the same time caught strep, and possibly another respiratory infection. Some were confirmed by test, not all, and in the end she needed another more catch all antibiotic to get whatever was the last thing she got (which was no longer strep)

All around, she was down for the count for well over a month, plus lingering symptoms. It was miserable.

Chrono Trigger for a classic game, Nier Automata for a more recent one. Though there's individual tracks that stand out from many other game, eg: Dancing Mad from FF6 or All as One from FF16.

Metal Gear Solid Revengeance also comes to mind.

There's always gonna be an option thats missing. And at the end of the day, game devs have a vision, its not entirely a commercial product (though of course it is part of it). That's what people keep arguing when they say AI games won't replace human devs right?

At some point the devs have to say "Ok, good enough" and ship.

Even if the option is there people will bitch anyway...from Mina the Hollower where the massive option menu wasn't enough because it disabled achievements, to Belmont Curse where people complained some of the options had to be toggled and were not the default (seriously!). Someone has to cut their losses.

phoenixmatrix

at this point other countries need to put sanction on the US or find a way to do something if the country's going to screw them all over.

phoenixmatrix

It's a nice to have, but definitely not needed. My kit got delivered several days after the headset, and I was perfectly happy without the head and hand straps. I do use them now because I have them, especially the hand strap, but if I didn't have them, whatever.

phoenixmatrix

yeah there's various processes, but "ultrapure" means nothing on its own. Its an outcome, not a process.

phoenixmatrix

Isn't "ultrapure water" just distilled water?

phoenixmatrix

I'm embarrassed to say I had the same immediate thought. I'm going to hell.

PvP isn't my biggest priority, but I'll totally play a good PvP game.

On VR the problem is how low the player base is. Some games have big communities for a time but it usually dies off so you can never get into it later, with few exceptions.

Final Fury is a good example..IMO it's a great game but it has the self fulfilling prophecy that people don't get into it because people didn't get into it.

As such my thought is: you either need a comprehensive single player mode, OR you need a flat screen mode with cross play with VR games, so you're not dependant on the limited VR community.

If the focus is PvP, I'd do the latter. Balance gets tricky but not very different from PC vs console for first person shooters.

phoenixmatrix

Yup, with that in mind I assume foveated rendering from PC like Alyx just added is the obvious next step.

phoenixmatrix

I tried it, it worked fine enough, but the streaming with the dongle works so well that I just play it on my PC instead. I never quite got virtual desktop and streaming working well enough in my Quest 3. But in Steamframe I PCVR all the things.

Better frame rate, and I'm really sensitive to it in VR.

phoenixmatrix

It's not the most annoying thing by miles. It just takes something shitty and makes it just a bit worse, and it's entirely unnecessary.

Eg: homelessness, mental illness and substance abuse are hard problems to solve and humanitarian crisis. Muting your phone is trivial and everyone can do it.

phoenixmatrix

It's absolutely cultural, though some people do it because they are the main character and self centered, while others are from places where it's normalized and genuinely don't think there's any issues.

And because there has been no significant pushback, now everyone else just think it's commonly accepted and everyone does it.

So it's gonna get worse and worse.

phoenixmatrix

Which is why the 2 party system is so painful.

If you want something from one party you have to take everything that comes with it.

If you're mostly left wing but there is one or two things you think the right does better, well fuck off, not here.

Look at places like Singapore or Japan which are fairly conservative, but have several policies you'd attribute to the left in the US. Can't have anything like that here.

You get the GOP or the Democrats, that's it, that's all.

phoenixmatrix

It's a grift to sell .si domains to the government and more companies. The domains were bought before the announcement and going for absurd amounts of money now.

It's always a grift.

phoenixmatrix

Would that hold? Generally you can't make a law that affects people retroactively for something they didn't know about.

But taxes may be different, im no expert.
