Students don’t really know what “learning style” they are - and this whole learning style/right-left brain stuff is really oversimplified and overly emphasized in a lot of places like TikTok which is also unfortunately where they also learn to speak to the manager and self diagnose.

Honestly a lot of the things we use in pedagogy haven’t been scientifically proven. It’s difficult to do rigorous controlled research on educational things. Too much noise. But it is a useful way to discuss how we expect people to differently use different content and skills so hanging a common language helps

This is simple to check on – contact the customer service and ask them for documentation of the student’s call. They would’ve had to have given some kind of identifying information in order to get whatever help they claim they got. But no, I’ve never heard of this and it does sound like someone’s trying to set up a false excuse.

Additionally the whole point of you approving an incomplete is you approving an extension of those deadlines.

I think you’re misunderstanding the point of the incomplete process. Or you might but you should re-look at the university policy and the forms that you and the student likely submitted.
