All of this is based upon feeling superior to others, and projecting that upon the people they’re trying to feel superior to.

Anti-vaxxers aren’t “anti” because they are trying to stop injustice from happening. They’re such because they get to feel morally and intellectually superior to those sheep who “fell for it” and got the jab. That’s why they can’t keep their mouths shut anytime a young person has an unexplained heart attack - there are dozens of them guffawing in the comment sections about how the person “got the jab” and how smart they were for not getting it.

I got vaccinated not because I wanted to feel superior to anyone, but because I was told by people I am supposed to be able to trust with my health that it was the best way to help things get back to normal and to protect my own and others’ health. If I end up with cancer or die of a heart attack because of it, fine. I know I did it for the right reasons and nobody is going to make me feel stupid.

This is a giant echo chamber filled with children. The joke, as with many jokes that become something more, has gotten stale and the jokers have moved on, leaving the people who didn’t get the joke or are taking it too seriously behind. Literally, every video where I am kind of interested in whatever they're working on is marred by the team missing some crucial part or piece of information and just YOLOing the rest of it or continuing to bash through it.

I said it on YT, my finger is hovering over the "Unsubscribe" button, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet because of this. One regular dude gets mega-successful and gets overwhelmed, but also gets a big head and misunderestimates what he can handle and what he can get away with.

Linus isn't stupid, but he's foolish. And he's also human, and also likely in way over his head. Does that make what happened to BL and especially Madison OK? Fuck no.

What does actually bother me is the decision to put jokes in the "apology" video - it gives the entire thing a bad feel, and really speaks to how badly the entire company is misreading the room right now. Which... I still can kind of attribute to ignorance, but in this case is either brazen stupidity, or an unwillingness to compromise.

I think Linus is overworked, but probably not a terrible guy at heart. It remains to be seen if those around him are pushing him in the right direction, or are as lost as he seems to be. The most recent video doesn't really give me high hopes. James in particular has always kind of rubbed me the wrong way, and Madison's experiences feel like the kind of environment fostered by people I've known that act like James.
