Oh my gosh, that’s so soon! That’s so exciting!
pine_lime
Congrats! When are you likely to take delivery?
pine_lime
Yeah am I missing something from the article? I didn't see anything about their reason for wanting or 'needing' to do so.
pine_lime
What?? How can they even do this?

My experience is that Ubuntu and Ubuntu studio have worse real-time audio performance than the best distros I've tried - for the uninitiated, this means pops & clicks at buffer settings where those better-performing distros are fine.
I have need for Debian package support; the best such distro I've landed on is Pika OS. The other distros that have performed better than Ubuntu and Ubuntu Studio are CachyOS and Nobara.
As a reply to some other comments I've seen, I found plugin support to be frustrating or non-functional when running a DAW from inside distrobox on Nobara. For this reason I jumped to a real Debian-based distro.

Ooh not silver or grey...so you got one of the fun colours?
pine_lime
Jaecoo J5 fun to drive? They seem like good value, but I never would have considered one a spirited drive! Happy to be wrong though
pine_lime
That is honestly one of the best websites I've ever seen

I swear tobacco was the original self-medication for ADHD for millions of people back in the day.
For me, I smoked 20-30 a day, and I rolled my own - gave my hands something to do.
pine_lime
Yeah it’s been ok..! Some aspects that are frustrating, like the android version being old enough that some apps (like Authenticator for work) won’t run, and the screen small enough that when I first set it up I had to type some passwords blind (with a T9 keyboard, no less..!). Now that it’s all set up though it’s pretty smooth sailing.

Nah sorry, just got the RUIO Joy and stopped thinking about it 😁
pine_lime
I got the RUIO Joy! Pretty happy with it
pine_lime
:(

Loved SMT IV too. What's your first favourite?
pine_lime
Congrats!
pine_lime
I 100% agree

Geely EX2, GWM Ora 5, GAC Aion UT. Hell, even the Jaecoo J5 is the same price (well, $90 more expensive in VIC).
That all being said, I prefer the Super One to all of them in terms of promised drive experience, but those are all "more car" for the money.
pine_lime
It does sound like Midinous! I wonder if Midinous was inspired by the program the OP was thinking of, Orca.
pine_lime
Your post is misleading. $26k is for the base EX2 with only 252km range, not 345km range. The 345km model is $30,990. Neither of those prices include on-road costs either: drive-away, the prices are $29,746 and $34,439 respectively. So the Super One is $2k (~£1k) more expensive...hardly "twice the price".

I think it's a very good looking car compared to the cars I assume you're comparing it with (Atto 1, Atto 3, EX2 and Ora 5?). They're all great value for money but don't nearly have the charm of the Super One. Coming from another touchscreen-heavy EV, a big draw of this car is its 'traditional' interior with real buttons and switches. On something like the Ora 5 even the headlights are a touchscreen function. Meanwhile, they have some real switches for the climate control, but none of those are temperature or fan speed (have the designers ever used an air conditioner before?!)
pine_lime
Yeah I think for 90% (probably 99%) of trips, the range of the Super One won't be an issue. Granted, for longer drives - the sort of ones most people make once or twice a year - it won't be ideal, needing frequent charging.
pine_lime
I don't doubt the J5 is a good car for the money, but they're very different cars..! The Super One is supposed to be fun to drive: low weight, suspension tuned for handling rather than comfort, etc. I'm looking at it as a 2nd car, coming from something much closer to the J5 (an EX30)
pine_lime
You're right, they probably are similar in terms of experience, but the Honda is an easier sell for me :P
pine_lime
Yeah it’s at least a price that makes me go “Hmmm, maybe…” and not “Nope”
Meanwhile the "Milk & cigarette" license was only $3.50
