Have to say, you really like to make a word salad out of nothing when I try to ask you a simple question that you clearly refuse to answer. Have a good day!
pofehof
I admit that I was skeptical too, but game dumps were confirmed by the initial person who released this exploit, along with save data.
Of course, he and other mods have confirmed that any game that requires a future firmware that patches this out can't be dumped like this. Ocarina of Time cartridges have already been printed, so that game can be dumped. We'll need to see if Nintendo holds off on printing Metroid Ravenous cartridges until the firmware patch is out.
pofehof
I still find it fascinating that you refused to explain whether a DS emulator (through Switch CFW) is able to connect with an actual DS through local wireless or a fan online server.
pofehof
If you take a look at the video, the desktop is already being recorded before they hit "Start Recording" in OBS. Definitely suspicious in that case.
I wouldn't be surprised if they opened the capture card through OBS in a separate window and renamed the title bar to make it seem like it's an emulator.
pofehof
I still find it fascinating that you refused to explain whether a DS emulator (through Switch Homebrew) is able to connect with an actual DS through local wireless or a fan online server.
Seeing that most videos that talk about trading between an emulator and an actual DS is through a fan online server, not local wireless, I will assume that the same is done here.
On that end, if a DS emulator does come out solely on the Switch 2. All they would have to do is make the online functionality no longer work. A DS-Switch VC game would still be able to trade with a DS-Switch VC game over local wireless, or even be able to do online trades through NSO's method. However, even if both of those are possible, a local trade between a DS-Switch VC game and a physical DS wouldn't be possible unless the Switch 2 is hacked and its keys are dumped similar to the Switch. As of today, we haven't reached that point.
The roar glitch is one of the few things they did modify and I'd guess it was a rather trivial thing.
Still goes against your point that "They literally took the GBA game roms and just dumped them on the E-shop. They didn't even bother to fix any of the old glitches.".
That didn't involve modifying the core of FrLg though.
That's because it doesn't matter in the long run due to the game being pretty isolated. You can't battle online, so they don't really care, especially since they can block illegal transfers to HOME.
I'd still wager that no matter what it will become possible at some point and probably wouldn't be that far down the road because again there are so many different possible options to make it work.
I would agree with this, but only if the Switch 2 reaches a state similar to where the Switch is in terms of being modded/jailbroken.
pofehof
Are you suggesting that RSE are going to be Switch 2 exclusive?
Hard to say. They would need to update FRLG as well to allow trading with Ruby/Sapphire, so they could just screw people over and not allow RSE to interact with FRLG.
I can trade from Gen 4/5 on my modded Switch 1 already.
Through online fan servers or local wireless? You're not being specific here.
If online fan servers, I highly, highly doubt TPC will enable online for Gen 4-5 on Switch 2. Heck, I doubt we would be able to alter the DS internet settings that would allow us to connect to the fan servers.
They literally took the GBA game roms and just dumped them on the E-shop. They didn't even bother to fix any of the old glitches.
They fixed detrimental ones like the Roar glitch.
You can take Pokemon generated with ACE and get most into Home.
You can't bring any Pokemon that can't be naturally obtained in FRLG (most Hoenn Pokemon, som Johto Pokemon) into HOME. It seems to be clear that they actually bothered with hack checks for HOME transfers.
pofehof
I'm confused by pretty much your entire point. The GB Link is for GBA games to begin with making it irrelevant to the topic of Gen 4/5.
Your original point was "Fans have done it with FrLG and any GBA ports that come out.", this means GBA-Switch trading. That's the sole reason I brought up the GB-Link, because it allows you to do this.
The Switch 1 already has DS games ported over to it and they run fine.
Which games? That being said, it's irrelevant since DS Pokemon games will be out in the future.
I can already run any DS game on my modded Switch 1 as well. While technically true that I'd be using CFW to make it happen, that cat is already out of the bag. Even 3DS games have had huge leaps in quality of emulation on the Switch 1.
You can run GameCube games on the Switch 1 through CFW as well. Didn't stop Nintendo from putting it solely on the Switch 2. This implies that DS and 3DS will likely be solely Switch 2 as well, especially since they are going to sunset the Switch soon in terms of new releases (I don't think there are any first-party titles on the horizon).
Theoretically if they just dropped the DS/3DS games onto the E-shop just for the Switch 2 tomorrow with no changes made to them, trades would probably be possible.
I doubt it since it's very unlikely that we would be able to edit their settings to allow trading through fan servers. There's no way they would revitalize online trading for these games either. They definitely don't want fans trading with old copies either.
pofehof
Dude, prodkeys aren't hard to get and you don't need CFW.
Those keys are illegal to share (similar to roms), so you need CFW to dump them on your own.
As I said, you can trade directly from the Switch 2 to the Gen III cartridges with the fan made tool.
And as I am saying, this is only possible due to them being Switch games. If they were Switch 2 games, this wouldn't be possible at all due to the lack of CFW. You can ask the GB-Link folks about it and they'll say the same thing.
pofehof
You don't need CFW on the Switch, but you need specific keys in order to completely break open the Switch's wireless trading (which you can only get through CFW). If the games were Switch 2 only, this wouldn't be possible at all.
pofehof
Someone got ahold of the Event Cartridged used for the Naval Rock giveaway and found the Data for the other events also in it, and made some alterations and uploaded the Roms online.
Do you have proof? As far as I know, only the original distribution cartridge for the USA Birth Island (Aurora Ticket) event was given out. No one has managed to procure the rom for the Navel Rock or Faraway Island events, especially with how limited the Faraway Island event was (to Japan).
You might be mixing it up with someone who recreated the events using that Aurora Ticket distribution cartridge that was dumped online.
pofehof
Unfortunately, this is likely the case. Would have been amazing if they cared about the older fans.
pofehof
Only reason it could be done with FRLG is because they came out on the Switch. If the DS games are out on the Switch 2, it won't be possible because the Switch 2 isn't hasn't had a kernal exploit/CFW like the Switch 1 has. Until it does, it'll remain this way.
pofehof
And yet, you have shown no sources at all. Please don't spread misinformation unless you can actually back things up.
pofehof
Sorry, but you have posted zero sources proving your claim. Smilebasic was not discovered by Gezine and that's fact. He might be holding on to other exploits, but he said that he won't release it if webkit ends up working: https://i.imgur.com/ujBTRva.png
If you're talking about Artemis, that hasn't been released yet. He's just telling people to download the games before Nintendo takes them down. Either way, both exploits won't give people emulators that most people in this subreddit have been hoping for.
pofehof
lol, no. It's fact that Pepsipu is the one who discovered it with the help of an LLM (Codex): https://www.reddit.com/r/switch2hacks/comments/1xce11w/a_switch_2_exploit_has_been_released/
https://pepsipu.com/blog/2026-10-switch2-jailbreak-ns2jb/

Please give proper credit where it's due. Gezine did not discover this exploit. You are either spreading too much misinformation or believing it.
pofehof
While they might have theories, Genzie is the one with the exploit, weird how that happens.
Uh, what? You might be misinformed...Gezine isn't the one behind this recent exploit. Someone with an LLM is the one who found it.
Also, the team over at Reswitched is the one who found one of the first userland exploit.
pofehof
So you don't have any actual proof of Nintendo bricking consoles.
Just remember, a brick means that your device is completely unusable. I have shown many instanced where a banned Switch 2 is, in fact, usable.
pofehof
Not really. You can still do local updates for games, as mentioned by this post: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-update-games-on-banned-switch-2.678193/
pofehof
Games even on cartridges sometimes require day one downloads. You don't get those.
Wrong. You can still do a local update with another Switch 2.
Game key cards won't function period.
Wrong. You can still do a local update with another Switch 2 (load game key card to second Switch 2, download data, then share it with the banned one).
Any switch 1 game needs updates for backwards compatibility. You don't get to download those.
This one I'm not too sure about, but if it's a game update, you can probably do a local update.
On the Switch 2, Nintendo tightened local wireless verification. Local version matching for titles that rely on system level digital rights checks or online/backwards compatibility authorization is heavily restricted or outright blocked if the receiving console has been flagged with a hardware ban.
Do you have a source for this? This post: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-update-games-on-banned-switch-2.678193/
Implies that it is, indeed, possible.
pofehof
They also fixed the camera angles during putting shots which sucks in Toadstool tour.
Which version of Toadstool Tour did you play? If you played the North American version, you should try out the Japanese or European versions since they introduced better camera angles overall.
pofehof
It seems you didn't see my response to his comment. They spread misinformation. For example, banned Switch consoles can still receive firmware updates. Here's a YouTube video proving it.
pofehof
Nah, they had wrong info. Banned consoles are still able to download firmware updates. Here's a GBATemp post that mentions what you can do with a banned console.
pofehof
Once banned, you can’t update games
You can update games with another Switch locally.
you can’t update the console
Consoles that have been banned from the eShop are still able to perform firmware updates, as seen in this YouTube video. Supposedly it wasn't possible initially, but Nintendo eventually allowed it.
if you had a game with a pending update it was failing to just pay it at all and some cartiges would not work either since they prompted updates that you couldn’t do.
As mentioned above, since firmware updates are allowed, you are not locked out from playing physical games.
No game key cards, since no servers. Effectively a brick.
You can download game key card games through another Switch 2, just like how you would obtain game updates.
pofehof
Fuck them for putting in a remote nuke to disable people's shit.
Please don't spread misinformation. The most they do is ban you from online. You can still play games offline.

Doesn't matter. OoT cartridges have already been printed and ready to ship. There's no way they would be able to do a recall on them since the game is out next week.
