Interestingly, Mark Pilgrim was (long ago) involved in the MBDF virus:

He later began writing open source as a form of repentance.

Who is "most of us"? Inexperienced Objective-C programmers?

Get Glide floss. Expensive, but worth it.

"I have yet to find a single credible source pointing to a case where Che executed 'an innocent'. Those persons executed by Guevara or on his orders were condemned for the usual crimes punishable by death at times of war or in its aftermath: desertion, treason or crimes such as rape, torture or murder. I should add that my research spanned five years, and included anti-Castro Cubans among the Cuban-American exile community in Miami and elsewhere." — Jon Lee Anderson, author of Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life

DParser is a GLR parser generator that has worked well for me:

Not a lot of great Oregon native pils, but try these:

But he's got his own blog -- how could he not be an authority on all software engineering topics? ;)

Plus, there have been Objective-C runtime implementations available for other platforms for a long time:

http://www.cocotron.org/ http://www.gnustep.org/

Apple even provides some support for third-party runtimes in the Clang compiler:

http://llvm.org/docs/ReleaseNotes.html#subproj

It's not the language so much as the frameworks.

Why the downvotes? I'm not saying this is impossible, just that building a code translator that also supports a useful subset of the APIs available on iPhone OS is a very large task.

I love how an "enthusiastic Common Lisp programmer or two" could write a useful code translator for Cocoa Touch given several months.

Although it was not the case when I was homeschooled, the latter is now sometimes referred to as "unschooling" in order to differentiate it from the christian wingnut version.

This guy is completely off-base. Apple always uses SSE floating point, because it's faster, while Windows would typically use x87 FP.

Yes, the results can be slightly different, and yes, this is normal and expected.

Would you kill to have a std::list<MyStruct>::iterator pointing to the wrong std::list<MyStruct>?

More people die of bad potato salad at church picnics than of rabies contracted from bats.

6 would be North American, 8 would be South American?

How so? Wikipedia claims 528 million in North America, and 385 million in South America.

Did they move Central America into South America?

I don't think there's a clean solution, unless you have one of the ExpressCard models, and can use something like the Magma ExpressBox.

Of course the Mac Pro would be the easy (and expensive) solution.

Yeah, IPC is so much easier than those dang threads.

Although I guess threads are hard if you have a GIL.
