I'd plan your team ahead and only battle with pokemon you want to use, switch training helps early game, but you can get the vs seeker and train in some good areas if you're struggling like the top on the cycle path.

Try catch the highest lv wild pokemon as well eg if you're using Abra get the lv12 rather than lv8 and training that saves time amd xp.

You can train Pikachu up on the SS Anne before beating Misty, get Thunderbolt at lv26 if i remember right.

You get a 2 year warranty with them so they'll credit or replace them where you bought them from.

Whittle Taps in town or Dunkertons outside of town.

Broadway/Winchcombe Slaughters Bourton/Stow if you can go a bit further. Painswick Prestbury (The Plough, Royal Oak and can walk the racecourse)

Just look what cex sell them for and try get the same or as close to.

I moved here for my partner and she works late most nights so i feel what your saying, luckily live down the Bay so i watch the footy there. If you ever want a drinking buddy and catch a game or two.

Exp is hard to come by so only battle with mons you want to keep on your team. Good team imo would be. Feraligatr Ampharos Heracross Espeon Mamoswine Machamp Assuming you can trade, if not sub out Machamp for a flyer like Dragonite.

Espeon or Machamp both available in Goldenrod and the trade Machop gets boosted xp 👌

If you're playing without trades and all legit, the Machop you can get in a trade at Goldenrod dept store for the boosted xp is awesome, helps with that gym, steel gym and ice gym plus Elite 4. Scyther i feel is a bit of a sleeper, when it gets x-scissor it one shots in loads of battles. If you grind Eevee to get Espeon that's an top pick imo.

I'm in the same situation, moved for my partner but luckily have a couple of hobbies that get me out and got friendly with the locals, either out on the motorbike, watching sport at the bars down the Bay or playing poker at the casino, was debating joining the gym or weirdly I'm keen on playing badminton somewhere but haven't looked in to it yet, we do a pub quiz every now and again but because she's in hospitality i have a fair amount of time to myself.

If you use the in game trade for Onix in Violet City and Machop in Goldenrod they get boosted exp which is so helpful for this game. I find Heracross/Scyther and Espeon mega handy to have for the Elite 4 and general playthrough.

There's a place just past my work that have a cool shop full of binders and cabinets full down Penath Road just down past Treads amd Greggs under the bridge, guys in there are sound, or there's a vending machine for loads of packs in the Red Dragon Centre.

Get flash on the other side of Digletts cave, you can trade your Abra but you'll save time using it for teleport and it learns Psychic which wont take long to get after rock tunnel if you know how. You'll need like an oddish or bellsprout for cut and flash if you don't want these moves on your squad.

I just did it with the 3 starters, Pikachu, Pidgeotto and Snorlax but if i wasn't going for Ashes team I'd of used Nidoking, Alakazam and Jolteon probably.

One of my faves, use him with false swipe post game to complete the pokedex, sprite is so much better in gen 4 though imo.

Don't evolve your pokemon, i just did runs doing this.

Google pokemon database, on there you'll be able to see all locations and version exclusives, so if you and your friend have different games the best ones to trade are version exclusives or ones that evolve through trading like Haunter and Graveler.

All you've got is the gym trainers and the grass, but what I'd do is spend all your money then jist keep battling the rival, then do the nugget glitch so get some money back.

You can park on Prestbury Road for free, 10 minute walk and you'll be in town and close to Pitville Park.

Maybe a normal type like Snorlax or Kangaskhan. Handy to have Strength going through victory road.

Vaporeon is good for using Ice Beam so you don't need Jynx. Charizard Fly, Flamethrower, etc Vaporeon Surf, Ice Beam, Acid armor etc Exeggutor Psychic, Giga drain, Leech seed, Light Screen

Electric mon helps for the first elite 4 so either Raichu or Magneton for Thunderbolt etc.

As soon as you get through rock tunnel you can go straight to Celedon and get eevee and buy Ice Beam and you'll have water pulse before fighting your rival in Lavander town.
