Hey look at bot account

rab-byte

As an American I just want to say that last sentence was cute.

rab-byte

And internet bots/trolls boost our divisions. They’ll jump in a social media thread and argue with another troll taking the other side just to inflame tensions between onlookers.

rab-byte

Are you saying you would murder women and children who had nothing to do with a crime committed against your country and that all citizen of a nation should universally be held accountable for the actions of any individual from that country?

How’s that square with imperialism?

I would like to make some uninvited statements tangentially related to this post (as is my duty as a redditor)

A combination of a UBI and Universal Healthcare would virtually eliminate the need for most other forms of social welfare and would be drastically cheaper to administer than means testing.

The ultimate goal for political action should be to get money out of politics. That means both getting money out of elections and getting greed out of office.

The best way to get money out of elections is to make election spending have a less determinative impact. The best way to do that is to break the two party system. The best way to break the two party system is Ranked Choice Voting. As a bonus RCV would also be cheaper to administer because there would be no need for runoff elections or primaries. (Political parties are NOT a constitutional part of government)

To get greed out of office will never completely happen but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have guard rails and clear, inescapable, rules. Banning stock trading is a good start. I think we need something more tailored to the issue.

1 - No one in appointed or elected office, or their immediate family, (her by called “an official”) may own/co-own, sit on a board of, or be a paid adviser for, any company or charitable organization that bids on, receives, or administers government contracts or support.

2 - No company or charity that with an official in their employment may receive any government contract, loan, or grant.

3 - No official may sell or trade stocks. All stocks in an official’s investment portfolio must be converted to treasury bonds that mature at the end of their term or be transferred to a single option federally managed index available to all government employees.

I don’t think this will fix all our problems. I honestly think these are just important waypoints in the evolution of our democracy. But the first step is to get republicans out of office. Then we use the democrats to break the two party system. Only then can we start fixing shit.

Edit: autocorrect flipped out while I was editing this?!!

Far far too many people forget “the final solution” was NOT the first solution. That it started with ‘making Germany great again’ and a pledge of mass deportations. It transitioned to detention centers/work camps/internment. Only when it was determined that they needed to do something cheap with the fucking human being they couldn’t work that they created the death camps.

Those who don’t know their history… fuck

rab-byte

Funny how these “both sides” fuckers always seem to have a preferred side

rab-byte

I heard a very funny comedian and former addict tell a similar story about meth. But it wasn’t entering our water supply.

rab-byte

Regrettably it goes further than that. So many people skim headlines without reading stories and far too many of us get our feeds from social media.

Stories don’t even need to be come from BS news site. they can just be a meme delivered with upvotes/likes and confirmation bias.

I’m very middle aged (40’s) and I see younger co-workers and older people alike falling into the trap of confirmation bias hardening their opinions and moral false equivalence convincing them that because they already agree with one position another from the same source should be given equal weight.

I know I’m no different and I know I’m manipulated too. But fuck me if we’re not a bunch of tribalistic dumb apes chasing dopamine hits.

rab-byte

You’re right to question this, especially because of the specific verbiage used in the allegations and how the story includes other unrelated charges being leveled against other people not this guy. By presenting the story in this way, likely as copy paste from the AG’s press release, it makes it sound like everyone involved in the story was involved in everything when literally no one in this press release has been convicted of anything.

Also with Medicare fraud in particular the fraud could be as simple as going back and added time sheets after the fact because the logs weren’t captured when a patient was seen.

I know there’s other charges but I’m just pointing out that yes. There’s reason to be skeptical.

Fuck forget Buzzcocks

u/PracticalSyeup8110 or should I say Diaz?

Your pictures are great but you’re exposing personal and company data in your post.

rab-byte

I mean you just have to look around to see that. Getting money out of politics is significantly harder than keeping it out to begin with.

By requiring justices to be qualified we prevent grossly unqualified judges from ever taking the bench.

By having them appointed we prevent them from being beholden to donors.

By voting to keep them we have a mechanism to remove judges who are not good at their job.

This is a very good system and one worth protecting.

rab-byte

Regrettably no. They will blame everyone else and rationalize this shit to their graves.

We’re dealing with a death cult. They’re all convicted the world will end in their lifetime so they don’t have any reason to care about what happens in the future.

rab-byte

MAGA thanks you for your principled stand.

Edit: due to the mod reply to my comment I think I should expand a bit.

I think this is simple math. When you withdraw all support from a candidate to make a principled stance knowing full well the other candidate in the race opposes all your views, you’re not really taking a stand. You’re the very people who want to you disappear.

rab-byte

Next r/democrat needs to be placed under new management and their “no democratic socialists” rule needs to be repealed

rab-byte

The scene in Inglorious Bastards where dude asks for 3 glasses and holds up three fingers instead of two fingers and a thumb is another good example.

Actually similar to r-lessness as a cyclical class indicator or the derivation of the word “okay”

rab-byte

Literally the opposite. They won’t talk about him. They refused to endorse him. They wouldn’t even say his name during the election. If you go over to r/democrat you can’t even say his name (at least you couldn’t even after the election. Not sure if that changed)

rab-byte

Our government has been crippled by fascist, theocrats, and oligarchs.

They’ve assumed just enough power to functionally shut down meaningful governance at the federal level. Musk’s actions with DOGE were able to cripple our bureaucracy and Hegseth has depleted our military of intelligence and morality, replacing them with nothing more than yes men. All the while Trump and his delegates on the world stage have worked to isolate us from our allies and end any good will towards our country. It’s basically how abusive domestic partners try to control their victims…

So just know that our upcoming midterms elections in November have way more riding on the than you may think. And those of use paying attention expect some real sketchy things to happen in the lead up all the way through counting votes.

rab-byte

Let me offer up another viewpoint. American Redditors are criticizing Israel for locking up an American without charges.

To the best of my knowledge France, for example, hasn’t been holding an American citizen without charges for the past 2 years.

This kind of criticism isn’t antisemitism. I’m confident we would see criticism of any country holding another country’s citizen without charges. In fact this is the type of thing that under normal circumstances would create an international incident. Hell when Russia held our WNBA player they even charged her with something.
