You’re either the worst or the best there’s no inbetween here

Buck was around 40 and the doe was 30 or so, I was stalking on public land. That’s about the most exciting way to hunt for me, next year I’ll probably start packing a revolver instead of a rifle

Basically yeah, they’re less effective than most modern gun calibers and rifles but effective enough people are not out wounding every deer they see.

randomstuffdude3467

Just went to verify, it appears most zones don’t have that restriction. Zone 2 definitely does, I’m jealous basically everyone else gets three does, we get 1 with Alternative or Modern gun in the first two days of season and 1 archery. I just assumed that was a statewide thing

randomstuffdude3467

I think they’re trying to transition into straight wall only, since they introduced it they changed modern gun to where you can only harvest a doe the first two days. I’d imagine if people continue to have success with straight walls they might completely eliminate other cartridges

randomstuffdude3467

Nylog, I put that shit on everything

randomstuffdude3467

The buck was dead within 20 yards, the doe ran about 40-50

randomstuffdude3467

357, the buck was about 40 and the doe was around 30. Switched to American Eagle 158grains this year, and it puts them down but blood trails with the 357 are very iffy the eagles are the best bullet I’ve used so far

randomstuffdude3467

It’s our muzzleloader season, but they changed the name and allowed straight walled cartridges

Got to be a king to afford the ammo too, crazy expensive to shoot

randomstuffdude3467

I’ve taken a deer with a Enfield, it’s a very potent gun for whitetail hunting. Dropped it instantly. Sadly I sold that gun back to the previous owner when I got hard up for cash.

randomstuffdude3467

I prefer the 60 watt myself, smacks a little harder

I kill all my deer off the ground, I’ve only used a tree stand like 10 times in my whole life. My biggest tip is no matter how loud it is clear out a 4 foot circle so it’s just bare dirt, don’t sit on leaves. Make sure you sit in front of a big tree that covers line of sight from behind you. Depending on which hand you shoot with don’t sit directly facing where you think deer will appear from, I always sit where I can turn 90 degrees to where I think they’ll appear from. This gives me a much wider range I can shoot from without moving my body, you can shoot a much wider range from your strong side than you can from your weak side without moving so take advantage of that.

randomstuffdude3467

That sounds like a sick set up

randomstuffdude3467

Been eyeballing the SBL’s at my local shop. That’s going to be my next purchase, I’d even sell the Henry to get my hands on one

randomstuffdude3467

I’ve only shot one deer with 243, my little brothers savage bolt. It literally stood straight up and fell over backwards, was my biggest buck to date as well.

randomstuffdude3467

That’s another one of my list of guns I really want but can’t afford

randomstuffdude3467

Old school cool for sure

randomstuffdude3467

Super handy rifle, and will do the job on deer. It’s basically just a baby 336

randomstuffdude3467

Second that forsure I’ve owned all three and they’re great

randomstuffdude3467

On my grail list, haven’t been able to afford one yet
