That's just because burnout is not a socially acceptable thing in Portugal.
I'd say we need more awareness of what burnout is. I've certainly seen and know plenty of people back home who suffer from it and would do well to re-evaluate their view on life and jobs. Whether 2 years is too much or not is really a different question.
Burnout points to a systemic issue within western society, and extended leave is a way to heal, but on its own it's not enough. I just wanted to point out that it's very easy to fall into the trap of "I work hard and am ok, therefore other who are not are lazy"
Certainly some people abuse the system (although as others said, this is covered by the company, not the state), but overall, we tend to idolise "working hard", and use that as an excuse to trap ourselves into burnout.
If you feel like you work hard while others dont, and feel that's unfair, perhaps consider reducing your workload and/or whether an extended leave would be beneficial.
This really has nothing to do with the stupid tax regime the NL is planning, burnout is simply a topic I care about.

For anyone who's confused, here's a scenario:
Year 0: You do well at your job and get awarded a grant of 25k which vests over the following year.
Year 1: Jan 1st net worth: 25k Company does well, share price moons and doubles. You dont sell your shares thinking it'll keep going up
Year 2:
Jan 1st net worth: 50k
You pay tax on the 25k unrealised gains - this is money out of your pocket not the shares you own.
Company crashes this year back to baseline, you still dont sell.
Year 3:
Jan 1st net worth: 25k.
You dont get any refund for your lost, unrealized 25k loss. You do get an offset on Box 3 assets for the following year.
Company crashes and burns, or you get fired or you decide to go surfing in Indonesia or whatever.
At best you sell for peanuts, at worth assets are worthless, but either way, you lost out on your investment strat.
Year 4:
Net worth: 0.
Tax obligations: nothing.
Tax benefits: offset that is not applicable since you dont own anything in box 3.
Result: Government tells you: "So long, and thanks for all the fish"!

I dont particularly think this sort of protest accomplishes anything, but this sub is sad.
So many folks using the excuse of rider safety to delegitimise the protests... or just simply mad at someone messing with their regularly scheduled tv entertainment

> Zelensky decided to challenge Vance and ask him hostile questions. He went back to his point that Putin never sticks to ceasefires, once again implying that negotiations are pointless. Why on earth would you do this?
So he cant challenge Vance when the latter is clearly misinformed (at best)? He was trying to explain to Vance that Russia doesnt uphold diplomacy like the rest do, so Ukraine needs better assurances in such eventualities. Completely pertinent to the topic at hand! Vance then went on tirade, which was quite disrespectful, and started demanding Trump be thanked. Completely arrogant and sycophantic attitude.
Even then Zelensky tried to continue explaining his point to Vance, which eventually set off Trump because he's so thin skinned that he cant understand Ukraine's POV.
Zelensky could have done better today, he probably should have known that Trump and Vance could act this way, and should have had a plan for it. That does not mean he was incompetent today. It does not excuse the appalling behaviour of both Trump and Vance today.
But here come the downvotes....

Please, lets not glaze a dictator that is ripping the country apart for his own personal gain!
Yes, he did one good thing: eradicate crime. But ever since then the economy has diminished, unemployment has increased, poverty is rampant and meanwhile his family are now millionaire land-owners and coffee farmers.
Bukele is stripping the nation to fill his own pockets, and this sub couldnt care less about any of that as long as we can all yell "oooooh, Bukele so smart, he know BTC moon"

I find the whole thing super sketchy and weird.
Cars are checked every race, there's no way they wouldnt have caught Merc already.
More likely its the tire wear this race, they probably never expected a 1-stop, compounded with not being able to pick up marbles on the cool down lap.
Merc then realised it was under weight and tried to be sneaky by leaving fuel in (unless they just forgot to empty the tank altogether, if the report that it's the exact 1.5kg is wrong).
So it's not premeditated, but definitely sneaky. And really, just stupid to try since it's weight is always checked. They probably would have had a better chance to not get DSQ if they were just upfront about it. Even then, rules are rules.
Gutted for George

Bukele is laughing tho.
Assuming he continues on the benevolent dictator path, he'll have a lot more money to invest into the country and consolidate his legacy. From a PR perspective, foreign investor and pundits will be praising his foresight, regardless of the average Joe using it or not for everyday life. That's a sidenote, the kind of news that don't cause a stir.
But, that's assuming he doesnt turn into just another power-hungry autocrat.
Interesting times ahead for El Salvador. Regardless of Bitcoin adoption, I'm just hoping the lives of Salvadorians continue to improve. If BTC helps and gets helped by that, then that's a good +!

Just watched last night's game.
I'm not thrilled about Steph.
There was a point in the 4th when I thought this was Denver all over again, and the reason was the same: Steph kept trying to hit them with the dagger, the night-night.
Dude's been doing this constantly this season, when up ~6-8 points, he wastes possessions by going hero ball.
It's not just him, it's been a problem with the Ws for years, that when clutch time comes along, they stop playing their motion offense and resort to "Curry, please help, you're my only hope". This is especially jarring when their offensive plays have been killing all game and then they just stop. In the past it kinda worked, but with Steph insisting on night-night, it's become too much.
Otherwise, they played great tonight. Hope Wiggs gets a boost from this, and I like seeing how JK and him are starting to figure it out

I think Dray is just frustrated. He's been balling. Yeah he's not the same defender but he's still top of the line in the league. And offensively he's been so much better the last 18 months.
He's always been like this, but before, winning probably chilled him a bit, now he's more on edge because he's seen the end of the line.
Hopefully it puts it past him, the warriors need him.

Just watched the replay
I think Steph is drained, he doesn't have the same joy and energy anymore. He looks sad and frustrated; I think the rest of the team has let him down so much that he doesn't trust them the same way anymore.
There's this moment in the 3rd where BP is leading a fast break and turns the ball over with a silly pass. Klay manages to get the ball back and passes it to Steph for the 3. Steph misses, BP gets the OR, ball back to Steph. Steph misses again.
It happens, normally these second chance 3s are money, and Steph shooting is never a bad thing. BUT, Klay was open, had just hit a massive 3 and was the one bringing that Warrior energy. I can't help feel that a couple years ago, Steph would have instinctively recognised his own struggles tonight and would have passed it to the hot-hand in Klay.
I think somewhere deep down, Steph's lost that trust and joy.
Hopefully Klay keeps this up, he's been playing better (except the last 2) and brings back Curry's energy.
Moody needs to play more in 4th. I get BP starting over him, but less mins for Wigs and Loon and more for Moody. I love them both but the team needs Moody's energy. And JK starting over Wigs is gold.
It's been clear for ages, but people were drinking the kool aid because they wanted the Merc and Lewis domination to end. 21 was insane, in any normal season he'd have got so many penalties. Then he had no competition for his next 3 titles and now that others are stepping up, he just went back to his Crashtappen ways... He's never been any different It does make races more exciting tho, which I'm all up for :P but it's infuriating how he always seems to get away with far more than others
