Idk about the candle thing, but time *does* go by faster the older you get. At least, it will seem to go by faster. Research has shown that as you age you are experiencing less new data for your brain to process. Your brain processes new data slower than recurring data. Recurring data would be: your daily commute to/from work, daily chores, recurring experiences, etc.

To slow things back down: take a new route home, start a new hobby, change up your schedule, explore new places, etc.
