D’aww. Even the chicken is surprised!

rinzorbunny

What sorcery is this???

rinzorbunny

Eden’s favorite pasttime for sure.

Eden gets daily meloxicam. Prior to being prescribed it, she wasn’t getting pellets as part of her daily routine, so making it easier on the both of us, I put a half tbsp of pellets in a dish and covered it with another half tbsp. She thinks they’re crack.

She then started steadily gaining weight (the reason she was taken off pellets shortly after I had adopted her in the first place), so I have since switched to a layer of rose petals, a layer of pellets (to absorb the meds goo) and a layer of rose petals (to keep her from sticking her nose in and smearing the goo all over it without actually ingesting it). Makes it easier for bun sitter to dispense also.

Best of luck to you and your cuties!

Couch loaf in 18 is perfection. Is Rein not a fan of banana?

rinzorbunny

Too real.

D’aww. Maybe you’re right. I specifically asked if they thought she would do well in a pair, but they thought she would do best as a single bun. I don’t know if they tried bonding her with another or maybe she just displayed aggression towards other buns. I know the foster mom had buns of her own. Given how she acts towards other bun shaped things, I’m willing to believe it. She nibbled a whole in the ear of a stuffed bunny and nibbled the whiskers off a fabric bunny basket (like all of them).

She just turned 8.5y this month and I’m not sure about stressing her with the bonding process at this point.

Well said! “Significant financial costs” cannot be understated. Finding a genuinely rabbit savvy vet is mission critical (not all vets who see exotics are well versed in rabbits and their care, so important to ask questions). And because rabbits are consider exotics (require specialized training), their veterinary costs can be quite spendy.

rinzorbunny

Ngl, a lil jealous of your cozy pair. Rescue thought Eden would do best as a single bun. But that means she’s bonded to me and I get her all to myself.

rinzorbunny

Local rescue via petfinder. Her previous adopter had to surrender her back due to moving due to health issues and not being able to take Eden with. Eden is the best most wonderful bun, so happy to call her mine.

rinzorbunny

Right??? I got really lucky in finding/adopting her. 🥰

I do have some anxiety over Eden getting stasis and am constantly watching her signs and symptoms. It’s important to know your individual bun and their habits, but rabbits having chronic or constant health issues isn’t inevitable, it really depends on the bun and their health history.

I would say they can pick up on your stress and that can cause them to stress. Stress can be a trigger for stasis.

Only you can know whether caring for a rabbit is a level of stress you can handle. Good on you for being mindful of that being a potential issue. Rabbits really are wonderful pets, but definitely one where you really need to do your research before committing.

Every bunny is either the daintiest lil herb forager, delicately selecting each strand to Hoover up one by one or takes the whole bunch in one go and sucks it down immediately like some cryptid cthulhulian horror. There is no in between. Some buns swing both ways.

rinzorbunny

Same. Was about to report due to the perceived lack of bun. But I believed the caption and keep looking at it like where’s Waldo.

😍

2nd pic, your couch looks so similar to my couch, and even the side table looks like the one that sits behind the console of my couch. Also, your agouti cutie could be Eden’s twin!

rinzorbunny

Or proctologist? 🤔

rinzorbunny

The sweetest

Here she is lounging in her tunnel. She was previously lounging behind the couch where I’m currently sitting. Guess she didn’t want to chill with me anymore 😭, or she just has a schedule where she rotates through lounging spots, idk.

rinzorbunny

I should ask her vet about joint supplements. She already gets a digestive supplement (I call it her breakfast cookie). Also want to ask about red light therapy (I’ve heard it has been used for arthritis in buns).

And 🫡 to extra treats. Will hand feed her some basil here in a few.

rinzorbunny

Sounds like GI Stasis. Vet needs to rule out a blockage, but conditions can evolve very quickly. Stasis is very serious and can quickly be fatal, so it’s important not to wait.

When Eden has been treated, it’s been with a gut stimulant and pain meds. On one occasion she was sent home additionally with subq fluids. Simethecone has also helped (over the counter infant gas drops that only contain simethecone), but bun def needs to see a vet. The gut stimulant and pain meds are prescription only.

There’s also a video over on YouTube from howcast where the woman demonstrates how to give a bunny a belly massage to help. Bunny’s name is Bean and it’s a whole series of videos, some of which also have Amy Sederis.

Best of luck to you and bun.

rinzorbunny

Same as my Eden, standard American agouti. She is a medium sized rabbit and about 7.5lbs.

Here she is in the living room. The couch also sits about a foot off the wall and her favorite chill spot is the far corner behind it.

rinzorbunny

Eden’s 8.5y and the vet wants her in twice annually now. I always have them do a trim at her appointment, which leaves now two other nail trim only appointments. Now that she’s on daily pain meds, that roughly corresponds when she needs a med refill. Not that she needs to be there for that…
