I thought fc3 (pc) looked amazing. I was very surprised when I found out how old it is. Working my way through this series, half way through 4 right now, can't wait to see how much better 5 and 6 are (I skipped the first 2)

Mine has 2tb storage (I very much doubt it's ssd haha). I run it as a kube node with PBS also installed. It's Debian 13.

Onecolo. I found them just by googling. It is surprisingly cheap, I also pay 12 a month for a 2tb vps which I use for my third copy (running another PBS) to sync manually to on occasion to mitigate against an encryption attack, as well as store a bunch of non proxmox files (photos etc). The other files are also backed up in Dropbox
Edit. It's a shared PBS, and you have to email their support to get namespaces added, but they did it within a hour.

The advantage of what I'm doing is that I can restore straight from cloud to proxmox without having to install a new pbs first to restore from.
Which is just as well as my pbs is a proxmox vm :) (on a different physical host shares with openwrt)
ripnetuk
This is the way.
You can also pay about £6 a month for 2tb off site storage on a live pbs and set it to sync to that, so if you lose everything including your local backups you can restore to a proxmox from the cloud. Alos supports encryption.

They take forever to settle down . I bought a bunch of them, and wrote a little bit of software to monitor how they were meshing (from sysinfo.cgi) and they were still messing with the mesh frequency and topology after a day, and did it all again after reboot.
I ended up installing openwrt on all of them (no good for you on the v1 I'm afraid) and now they are rock solid.

No need to involve home assistant. Frigate is brilliant but not so good on raspberry pi.
Just get local reolink camera and use their app over tailscale. I just tested it and it works great.
You can use the pi as the tailscale gateway if you have nothing else on 24/7 that is suitable.

the microcontroller (the 8 pin chip) has 2 LED outputs and a high/low "1/2) pin if its the same as the Benfei similar switch.

This came up in my research. I have had success with a similar Benfei switch and documented the process here:

Me too. I moved to openwrt (x64 version running proxmox) after I build a new mesh network on it using mx4200 devices.
I wanted everything to be the same.
No regrets, openwrt has been totally solid, and imho is much better (for me) since it can all be configured easily via a well designed cli interface, and has an amazing versitile API

Hi, yes, you are right... i found that the trivial part, but it should be there for completeness..
Ive added it to the post.
Thanks for the heads-up :)

Far cry 3. First island all guns blazing, 2nd island, stealth all the way

100 percent. What a fantastic game locked behind poor software implementation. Fwiw I got it working by doing the large memory fix. Keep trying, the actual game itself is superb.

Learn docker and proxmox.

I lived next to an adult version of this. Avoid.

I know you are right :) i just havent got round to it yet, and tbh im worried that unless I get my head around it completely, I will open up a security hole.
I need to at least be able to test if there is a security home before playing with it.
I also need to learn how DHCP works for it too
ripnetuk
The honest truth is that I understand v4, addresses are memorable, and I can figure out netmasks and firewall rules in my head.
I haven't had any compelling reason to use V6 so I simply haven't learnt enough about it to make me comfortable using it.
Having said that, it's slipped in... I've had DHCP issues because I've only killed the v4 server in the pastz fairly sure my matter devices use it, and my windows boxes use it by default it seems

Probably different for everyone, but it was the large address awareness fix that seems to have made mine stable. Running 5070ti at about 100fps on 1440p. What a great game once you can actually play it :)

I think it's on GitHub. I got a link from Claude. Using it is dead easy, you run the laa executable, navigate to the game exes (there are 2z one for direct x 9 and one for 11), check the laa box and click save.

It's such a good game that once I'm immersed in a battle, the graphics looks just as good as a modern game to me.
But the quality of life and bugs are awful. Had to mod the binaries for large address awareness just to make it not crash all the time, it only launches 1 time in 2 (Xbox launcher), and worst of all, I bought it on steam, realised I had it on gamepass, refunded steam and ended up with 2 linked Unisoft accounts. I backed up the save game, and deleted the steam linked account, and restored the backups, only to realise that Unisoft encrypt the saves to the account, so I had to start again. Also setting up a ubisoft account for my son to play another game, it kept rejecting a valid password as "unsafe" without telling me what is unsafe about it. The game itself is first class, and I'm glad I persevered, but the surrounding ubisoft junk sucks.

I'm using a pair of flint 2's for exactly this. Have them setup with a wds bridge between them. Using 5ghz dfs channel I'm getting about 1gb throughout and about 6 or 7ms on speed test unloaded.
It's pretty much the same as a wire.
ripnetuk
I've had loads of similar issues with my proxmox. Running on a 5600x host, happens across multiple Samsung ssds (that work perfectly elsewhere on proxmox on a different motherboard). It even happens when I used a pcie sata card to plug them in. Ended up putting my large 8tb SSD in a usb case as it's just used for media, so doesn't need the full speed. It's worked perfectly ever since There is something about proxmox, sata and certain conditions that ain't quite right.

Google openwrt mx4200 and looks at the official page for a primer :)

They could be half as good as 3/4 and still be top games. I can't believe I didn't know about this great series for so long... My son recommended them to me and he is not wrong.... Funny thing is I already "owned" them on gamepass
