Nothing they say will help people, they made up their mind in less than a day because they are cooked. They turned off housing because when you deal with something like this you have to assume the worst. Better to be wrong and safe. Who cares if other services can come back that quickly? Some are going to be fast and some are going to be slow. Trying to compare others in a situation like this is silly. I have been in the other side of dealing with major security issues. It’s not easy and very disruptive. Updates are often given internally as “working on it”.

Theres nothing to "avoid" as the problem isnt their fault. Doing sudden mass updates is difficult. Simply figuring out how long it may take will take a lot of time. Im sure they will give updates but theres basically nothing to update. They are fixing it and anything more than that is useless information for the players.

I want more people would realize that QA likely caught all these issues. The problem almost always lies in whether or not the devs/publisher care or have time to fix them.

Judging by the fact you are speaking in lines of code tells me you have no idea what you are doing. This is a ten year long project for even someone experienced. Don’t let the ai snake oil salesmen fool you, you can’t prompt your way into a game of this size. If you prove me wrong sure I’ll buy a copy.

Oh they absolutely could but as you say I don't think anyone cares from both the valve/epic and consumer end. The maintenance lift alone is pretty high for what they[valve/epic] would get out of it.

Opening faster is nice but for this type of application, like who cares? Its something you do exactly once a day or month depending on how often you shutdown your computer. Congrats I guess.

Because its easier. Also its slop coded as proudly admitted by them. AI has more data on webview far more than any other UI. Game UIs used to be written in flash because flash was just a really good UI tool. Same for webviews, it has lots of problems but CSS+HTML is one of the best UI frameworks on the planet.
