I'm saying he is the one lacking self awareness here.

  • Run of the mill neolib puts out anti-trans statement

  • People who he's ostensibly campaigning to call out his leveraging transphobia

  • This tool: "How dare you be so anti-trans!"

roodgorf

The lack of self-awareness is off the charts.

"You can't complain about stepping on that nail because your other option was stepping in a bear trap."

I'm pretty confident that nobody opposing the Turek ad is a Hinson voter, but that doesn't mean they should just quietly accept a shitty stance. If there was no pushback now then in the event of a Turek win what leverage do we have to push him away from anti-trans legislation?

They have the audacity to bombard us with funding asks and then decide to spend it on this kind of rhetoric? I'm sick of it. Turek has my vote, but he does not have my support.

roodgorf

Maybe if they'd learned even a single thing from that disaster of a campaign then we wouldn't be here.

roodgorf

My entire family is from, and continues to live in, rural Iowa. I know for sure that none of them are changing their vote based on this ad.

roodgorf

He "combatted" a trash ad with another trash ad. It's the same mistake Dems make over and over again. I'm not asking for a candidate that perfectly aligns with me, and I'm not even arguing for anyone to "sit out" this election; what I'm begging for them to stop engaging in this kind of rhetoric.

It's exactly the same thing as Rob Sand supporting the exclusion of trans students from sports aligning with their gender. It's effectively a non-issue in Iowa and only gets brought up for political points. Don't give it any oxygen because it just keeps the conversation going for the bigots and continues to hurt LGBTQ folks.

roodgorf

Same tired line of reasoning every single election, and the Overton window shifts further and further right.

All Turek had to do is not make this ad. Who the hell is he trying to appeal to with this? Does anyone seriously believe there is a contingent of voters that are almost willing to for for Turek but just hate trans people too much to do it?

roodgorf

Engaging in this kind of disgusting identity politics is one of the many reasons Dems keep losing. I'm certain he's not winning over anyone with this single issue, all he's doing is keeping a wedge issue in the conversation and making it harder for people who may have voted for him to be vocal about that. It gains nothing and plays right into the Republican strategy.

roodgorf

I often find myself asking "What is give more to people thats only care when it's time for you to vote is gonna change?"

Truly one of the questions of all time.

It can hold a cup so that the saucer can be carried instead and provides a place for your spoon. What purpose is it defeating?

roodgorf

Assuming black resigned after the group in the middle was killed because white was so far ahead. Which is fair, but really doesn't explain the white borders on the first line, or why blacks groups are so solidly filled it

I suspect these players need a little better in understanding of what territory is.

If you like being outdoors, Polk County Conservation has plenty of projects that could always use help. https://polkcountyiowa.volunteermatters.org/project-catalog

It was only rezoned to that 4 months ago. And we know that there is an NDA tied to the data center proposal. Which seems more likely, that Microsoft just lucked into Woodward rezoning recently annexed land, or that a deal was already underway and the land was rezoned for this purpose.

Why would you need to alt+tab if it's on a second monitor? Just move your cursor over.

I assume OP is talking about something entirely passive on the first monitor like watching a show or doing something that's even less click intensive than agility courses.

roodgorf

It would only require that for one house though, which is where the 11% number comes from. Even if one house voted 100% for an increase, then the 34% in the other house would kill it.

roodgorf

I don't know what compelled me to read the comment section on there but I wish I hadn't. Just people following up with even more idiotic arguments and whataboutism.

We used to have prairie with roots several feet deep. Plows and wetland tiling destroyed it all and absolutely fucked the water table.

You can find Isabell in a cave in Pilot Quest. She gives you a hard time about crashing again and has a chest to open I think.

I'm not a very strong player personally, so take this with a grain of salt, but you've mentioned several times how "white has lived everywhere" and that it feels defeating. I think maybe you should adjust your view of what the game is.

Unless there's a huge disparity in skill or someone makes a massive blunder, then it's pretty unlikely that's you're going to kill most of each others groups. A lot of the game is in the margins and the little exchanges you make. It's generally not about whether you can kill your opponent in an area, but how much territory you allow them to keep in the exchange, that's where the real points are.

For example, the big group that white connected in their last move might be hard to kill, but they have no territory right now, and don't have a ton of space to make any if you don't let them, so it's not doing much aside from being a lingering that at the moment.

Also worth noting that these stupid things aren't even installed properly to be safe. Notice the pole next to it has a bulky square base. That let's it breakaway and fall over if a car hits it rather that the car wrapping around the pole and being much more deadly for whoever is inside. These poles have no breakaway devices and seem to almost always be installed into concrete.

So much for "protecting the community".

Would be more helpful to provide an actual species as there are several Lonicera species native to the US. I'm not familiar enough with all of them to say if this is or isn't one, but it doesn't look like any of the common invasive I'm familiar with. Closest non-native would maybe be Lonicera morrowii, but doesn't seem quite right.

For anyone who's here and bummed that they missed it, the album is a steal at only $7 on Bandcamp.

Wild parsnip is an invasive species from Europe, so removing it is also a good thing.
