\3. Hidden history

For the release Sting played a free concert in Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan with Bill Gates on stage. It was a weird time where you almost wondered if it was safe to be around high profile people.

Playing “An Englishman in New York” though somehow felt like a bold statement of solidarity.

How many accounts in total? A lower number of total accounts, and utilization, could be those last few points.

Lady MacBeth trying to wash out that damned spot?

I think this will be a majot differentiator between living in different states.

In some new right to repair laws will be passed, and it will become illegal for companies not to allow modifications, or to sell appliances that aren’t sufficiently modularized that they end up in landfills when a small part repair or replacement could restore all of its functionality.

In other states it will become illegal perform any modifications of the firmware. They will allow companies to claim that any simple fixes done outside of their authorized repair channels are illegal hacking and violations of their intellectual property rights.

Incidentally, you might explicitly add features to lock down the security of the firmware on your washing machine, but whatever Samsung put into appliance software 10 years ago is almost certainly more open to security vulnerabilities and becoming an adversary on your home network than anything Claude just programmed for you.

When it comes to security in general, I think AI is how the internet of insecure things will become weaponized, but a good firewall and proper compartmentalization of your network with policies and VLANs will go a long way in making sure you are not the easiest target.

That sounds pretty dumb.

I use frontier cloud models to help me save tons of money every month finding more durable solutions than contractors and trades people come up with

For my own work, I'd never put any of it on services that are likely to train on any innovation.

As for leisure time, there is already more entertainment available that's essentially free than any reasonable person could consume in a given day.

The cooling capacity for sustained tasks is also far superior on the Ultra compared to the Max.

Are you claiming that the solar noon in Amsterdam is the same time throughout the year, or that they also changed their clocks continuously throughout the year to match each day’s noon?

Balance transfers aren’t free. A 3% expense will consume almost the entire interest arbitrage opportunity of an introductory 0% APR.

Don’t forget MagSafe.

He should try New Mexico.

Emergency fund first, then “VT and chill”.

The 440x return of one stock in 10 years is a lucky bet; a diversified fund like S&P 500 averaging 10.5% per year over the last 100 years is like gambling where you are the house.

Was this the mid 2010s? Every one of those shares would be worth about $8,800 today. (4x split, 10x split, $220)

Equipment that is $10k right now (premium Mac Studio, or a pair of DGX Sparks) is expensive, but can do incredible work for you with only 200W of input power. Adjusted for inflation, that’s much cheaper than early personal computers, and in 2026 you can get uninterruptible 200W even if you’re on a boat in the middle of the ocean with a few solar panels and a battery. That’s seems pretty close to the definition of sustainable to me.

It sounds like you are inclined to accepting broad heuristics, rather than critical thinking.

Recorded history is so short that it’s chock full of unprecedented developments. There’s no justification to expect that there’s some sort of guiding tendency for everything to revert to a mean where everything essentially stays the same.

There are two screws to adjust, but often you’ll find that it is far more adjustable if yoy re-mount the attachments much further from the hinges of the door.

We've traced the call. It's coming from inside the house!!

It’s telling you that that is the same computer that is accessing the Omada interface.

There are tricks to do even better than 2%, but many households spend more than $10k that on property taxes, insurance, and utilities every year.

Your aunt is in the mob?

What if a billion dollars of Google income is used to import a billion dollars of food or manufactured goods? Is it still only imaginary?

About 10lbs. There’s a lot of copper in the heatsink.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but California B&T seems to have renewed the $1k for $5k in 120 days SUB https://www.calbanktrust.com/business/business-credit-cards/

What is the conventional wisdom on approvals? Is it generally necessary to open a business checking account first for sole proprietors?

With the M3 Ultra, an external Thunderbolt 5 drive was as fast as the internal drive. I think you made the right to choice to get some extra, higher speed storage.

I’m happy I have a Mac Studio rather than a pair of DGX Sparks, but the Mac Studio isn’t strictly faster.
