If it's a trusted official 3rd party site (like humble bundle), they are getting the keys from the publisher. If it's a grey market key kind of site, the secret ingredient is crime.

Nope. You can only see the level you have the badge at.

Why would someone access your account in a way you wouldn't know just to play a specific game or 3? That don't make no sense.
salad_tongs_1
Occam's razor. You unlocked them in May of 2025. Either by playing them, or doing something (like I knew a guy who used someone else save file to do something and it automatically unlocked a lot of achievements instantly).
I've also heard of some games not counting achievements you unlock until you actually exit the game.
Or maybe you played it and you lost connection to Steam during that time and it unlocked them once you reconnected.
Or or or who knows, if it happened over a year ago and you don't remember, then I highly doubt anyone here will be able to tell you what actually happened.

1 - Are you sure they are credit cards and not debit cards? Kids can have debit cards.
2 - It most likely wouldn't be a blanket policy and left up to the states. Currently there are something like 27 of the States that require a form of age verification for adult/explicit things. A lot of them requiring going through a 3rd party to verify your government ID kind of thing just to look at boobies online (of course there are ways around those things but I wouldn't know anything about that and never would bypass age checks at all...I'm not on trial here!).
3 - This is a huge what if. First the government (Federal or State) would have to suggest a thing, then get it voted in, with some sort of time table for implementation, and possibly multiple options on how corporations comply.
4 - If a state (or federally) pass a law for age verification that requires using something like Credit Cards in a way that you (or anyone else) thinks is pointless, it's not on Valve/Steam to care. They will follow the laws in the countries they operate in. If you think a law that is being passed is stupid/pointless, vote, write your representatives, because it's on them, not on Valve.

Just here to pile on with everyone else to say: Games I've had on my wishlist that were in early access DID send me a notification when they left Early Access and become 1.0.
So your suggestion/wish is granted. Congrats!

It released today.
Lots of people bought it.
Therefore ranked #21 in top sales.

So in one paragraph you say (bolding by me for a point I'm gonna make)
I think games that are delisted, no longer available, or only accessible through Steam Families should stop affecting our Average Game Completion Rate
But then in the next paragraph you say (again bolding by me)
The game has achievements, and if we manage to unlock all of them, I think that progress should count toward our profile, even if the game is no longer available for purchase.
I have no other opinion or thoughts on the rest of what you said, I just wanted to point out that you said delisted games shouldn't count and should count toward a users profile.

omg I forgot about that game. A+ counter point.

there is a big difference from verifying it runs at a reasonable frame rate with controller support on a Steam Deck than checking visual assets/code/etc are made by AI
salad_tongs_1
Valve, who has historically been completely hands off on curating games, should suddenly spin up a team to check games for 'slop' (really tired of that word honestly)?
Sure.

Mom said it was my turn to make a post about AI in r/steam

Make your own version on roblox and a 'rip off' version of your game on Steam to beat them to it.
