This is awesome. It looks like disco Elysium

I've always used companies like Pickerings in size and they do quote 1.5k-2.5k for autodialler upgrades to digital. However I'm sure you can get it cheaper. I don't rate the bigger companies at all.

They should have told you somewhere about the schedule for fire alarm testing. If not, reach out to the accommodation people and ask when it'll be tested (probably same time every week). Tests you don't need to leave, drills you do.

Me toooo I'm really excited

also me: "borrowing is risky, it's best to only spend what money you have and never even get a credit card until you really need a mortgage or to finance something enormous"

my credit score:

This "overtime as needed" logic would extend to working you 12 hours a day for 7 days a week. It's obviously faulty logic, but legally probably a grey area. As others say, aggressively job hunt, try telling them you're simply unable to do weekends if you feel brave and like you'll get another job soon enough, and be aware most of the time contracts that say "overtime as needed" are actually fine, and this particular workplace is just behaving crazy

I love typing too!

I've moved on now but used to do maintenance for a certain bank's ~700 branches. It turns out they kept their very first ever branch and turned it into a museum. So, we had 600 branches, 3 large head offices, and one small museum property. Very bizarre just how different the maintenance was there versus a regular bank branch.

Also, island sites in the Scottish isles; You either hire an engineer who lives there (fat chance) or pay for someone to stay overnight, maybe over multiple nights. So make it worth it when you send someone.

I'll go a step further than the others saying it depends on the industry and also say it depends on the state/country and department within company. Effectively, it depends on the person. This is the same for signatures and grammar. Some people don't use signatures and use terrible grammar and very colloquial speaking and they can just do that. Some use extremely formal messaging that has its own downsides. Be yourself - be polite - be concise and clear - and you'll be fine.

I myself use a smiley in very specific circumstances. It is regarded as colloquial if not unprofessional. A librarian is exactly the type of person I'd have no issue with doing that. The people who I feel would be judged are directors, health and safety, military, people with a huge amount of responsibility who shouldn't take things lightly. Even they could get away with it though as long as things are going very well and they have a good reason.

Also, B2B client relations are rarely the type to include this kind of casual thing. If a supplier did it I would immediately think they're probably a smaller outfit with less robust processes and training. But that's a good thing for many of them - it suggests the people emailing you are not micromanaged and have a lot of freedom in their conduct, so you can form a relationship with the individual rather than the organisation they belong to.

I just turn the heating to frost prevention and pretend I'm a medieval peon, wrapping up warm, sealing rooms to heat, lighting candles with that dumb terracotta pot trick etc.

I would argue the reply isn't needed

It's true that the bizarre sex apps do progressively get more bizarre and sexual.

samzeman

I'm apparently stupid, what's the misread?

samzeman

I found this perfect for a while. But it was severely space limited and didn't agree very well with the SD cards I tried. And it had limited processing power and would freeze and crash somewhat often :(

samzeman

I'm going to go again t the grain and say you should try it. It's a short cut it'll grow out fast if it doesn't work.

samzeman

I don't get why people get on Grindr and then get mad when people propose bizarre sex. It's the bizarre sex app!

I have a creatures only karador deck and it works just fine in terms of interaction. Lacking green does hurt, but there are a few "removal on activated ability" permanents you can still. use.

That said, Karador is a better commander than this, hands down.

This is a nuanced one. Your dad from what you have said is not a good parent. If I read into it, he may be right in this text and it is probably also part of a pattern of him criticizing you, for some real faults and some things that aren't faults but he makes you feel like they are.

In a vacuum with no context, leaving complaints for people to wake up to can upset them, even if they do have notifications turned off overnight. I think the tone of your message also comes across as entitled, unfortunately. It is hard to describe why, but if I were to suggest an alternative, I think an in-person conversation is better for conveying a casual critique like this. Texting comes across like you are bothered about it whereas in person talking is more casual and as if said in passing. Even better if you're not the one who started a conversation about the fan.

It depends on the type of person your family members are, but in my household, I would tell them some point after I wake up. Someone would ask how I slept or be talking about the temperature and I'd say "the fan was nice but it was a little bit loud, is that just me?" Phrasing things as a question can defuse tension, though you still need to be careful as it could come across as accusatory.

On a separate note it might be true that you complain too much, especially if you have a hard time talking to him with a clear head. Of course it almost doesn't need to be said that it would be good for you to move out, and it would be good for you to be more positive. But I acknowledge that can be very difficult in such a household with such a history. And if your family have always spoken to you in a certain way, you may be inclined to assume that same tone with them, and that's a bad tone to assume. Not that it is your fault - but there's a chance you may be able to fix it.

Sorry if this came across as victim blaming at all, that's not my intention. It sucks that he physically abused you at any point. I doubt the rest of his actions are entirely reasonable too and you're probably generally right to find his behaviour off-putting or offensive. There are things you can do to make it better, like being nicer and more positive. You shouldn't have to and you don't have to, you don't deserve to have to turn the other cheek and forgive and be nice to someone like that - but if you can find it in you, it will help things run more smoothly with him at least.

If I had to guess, what they're doing seems to be working, and it means they don't have to be bound by other contracts while they collect money. No fees for them to pay either.

samzeman

The same has been said of antiheal and suzu. Just a thought

samzeman

It's a combination of factors. Smell is probably most important, but I knew a dog that hated tall blond men and was more nervous around tall blond women because of it. They pick up on the body language, height, hair colour, skin colour, smell, and noise.

Totally depends how many sites/assets you have.

Single building = write a list. Have a whiteboard or excel or a notebook.

Multi site = excel can work. But for complex or larger sites (i.e. if you are in charge of networks at offices, or you have campuses, or multiple blocks of apartments or offices) I have used a CAFM system like Maximo, expansive etc. Something accessible to the end users reporting the faults and also to the engineers fixing them where possible (though YMMV getting subcontractors to engage if you are mismatched in size with them or have poor relationships)

That means nothing gets lost and you start being able to run reports and look at asset histories.

On smaller sites it's great to have that but if you only have about a thousand assets and <100 systems you can probably have a team or person that remembers it themselves, and uses paper or excel to remember all the little jobs. Not that I would recommend not writing down your institutional knowledge in that case ....

samzeman

What's stopping you assigning that cube and locker to him?

samzeman

There's a voice line when Doctrine eliminates Moira where he says something like "Those keys you hold are pretty rusted" which I found very cool. I think they definitely will have an interplay. What's scary is if they worked together on something. But I don't think either of them play nice with others who are as smart as they are - they prefer people they can manipulate

samzeman

I've often wanted a sign that says "MOVE LEFT" but the issue is you can only use it once you've already passed them (potentially on the left)...

Maybe one facing forward that speaks in mirror text.
