If only.

I work in a research field funded by grants. I'm really worried for my almost 2 yr old's survival if this trajectory continues. So many bad things are possible if paychecks stop and all these supported programs vanish.

The sand must flow

Ha great! Only way to make it better would be to make the other cacti also Borg cubes :D

A tentative agreement that seems to have a lot of opposition. It'll go up for membership voting this week (re: AR and PD units) and we will see if it's agreed upon or not.

scibrad

Yep complete and utterly garbage for ARs. Don't forget they also completely withdrew ALL childcare from even being negotiated.

scibrad

Slpr, I've come to bargain.

Would be cool if they gave options for larger island sizes. But this late in the game I guess its be a bit problematic unless they had some way to do soft resets.

If you're still open, would like to visit ☺

It's insidious.

Yeah, one should not confuse pharmacy tech with pharmacist. The amount of study and training a pharmacist has to do to understand the biochemistry of all the various drugs is pretty intense.

Reaper Man. It's one of the many excellent Discworld books by Terry Pratchett.

scibrad

It's a totally different experience if you watch them in a different order

To pay off my student loans :(

That would be really cool and open a lot of interesting plots...what if they get so good they can simply open subspace bubbles across the galaxy (say from Earth to Qo'noS)? It would also be a bit tricky for other plots (Tuvix) but maybe that is good.

I like this idea and indeed it could still someday appear. After all there were already hybrids of this in TNG (a subspace transporter which is like a regular transporter except through subspace).

scibrad

Who came up with person man?

Yes having Sky Priority has been nice that is for sure, but I typically only have a back pack for my carry-on so getting onto the plane early is not as big of a deal to me. And yes the times I wind up flying into/out of ATL I have found myself similarly positioned on the upgrade list.

scibrad

Thanks for your reply. So my flights are typically business related and out of the bay area (SFO, OAK, SJC) and I wind up with a mix of intl and domestic flights. The international ones usually pass through JFK or ATL on the way to FCO (and vice-versa), domestic will depend where I go, but I have passed through DTW a lot. I did get a lot of C+ upgrades through the year and a decent number of Prem. as well. For the international legs I usually wind up with a 3-5 hour layover so I have made use of the skylounge benefit a few times.

As for the AMEX that is not something I have but could be interesting....though unless I can find a way to pay my rent with it, I don't think I will come close to the $25k waiver level in the year.

scibrad

That really is absurd. I expected better from Delta than to make a person sit in a health hazard, especially with such a pittance of compensation.

scibrad

Probably not unless you are John Travolta

My worst pain ever was when I had let a dog bite in my right hand get infected, thinking I had been cleaning it well enough at home. My hand was so swollen my pinky was thicker than my thumb and gentle pressure would ooze out pus.

At first my level 10 was when they pushed some sort of substance that caused my hand to feel as though it was on fire from the inside out. They clearly thought I was exaggerating up until I vomitted over the person trying to get my insurance info. Then they admitted me and gave me hydromorphone. Brought it to a 7 or so.

2 days later the hand was worse even after two different antibiotics. So time for an MRI. I need to have my hand spread open for it. Ok I think I just had my dose of pain meds pushed....Oh god it was so painful to uncurl my hand that I almost threw up in the MRI. I was shaking and sweating so much that my IV fell out. Even after a second dose of hydromorphone the pain was untouched. Thankfully I went in for immediate surgery after that, 90 minutes to clean it all out. But it definitely skews my pain rating now.

I had an infected tooth recently that was incredibly painful but compared to the hand pain was like a 4.

I really wish there was an objective way to measure pain.

Not really, an example of such a particle that we know already exists are neutrinos. Whatever dark matter would be simply would have a very weak to no coupling to electromagnetism.

Thanks!

It’s a Ophthalmologist legend. Darth Pupilis was a Dark Lord of the Ophthalmologists, so powerful and so wise he could use the Iris to influence the pupil to dilate …He had such a knowledge of the dark side, he could even keep the ones he cared about dilated...The dark side of the Iris is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural...He became so dilated…the only thing he was afraid of was losing his sight, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his intern everything he knew, then his intern blinded him during an exam. Ironic. He could save others from blindness, but not himself.

In general you should follow the NHC as they have a better track record typically (and anyways incorporate the Euro into their forecasts)
