I’ve played the hell out of these. Loved ‘em. Are there any similar games?

Just use his download link under the video on YT. The shortcuts work a treat and even work on iOS (obviously not the window moving ones, but most of the others).

This thread was my salvation. I will now stop trying to make the HAL dot go away

This app is outstanding. PopClip was 10/10 good but ActionClip pushes things even further. Highly recommended. Useful, fast, pretty. The holy trinity of MacApp wants.

I'm running Golden Gate, and I've tried the Preview version of Thaw but the menu bar icons just have a little party and dance about. Not fun for me.

So I installed the free (for a month) trial of Bartender 7, and so far it's been rock solid. V6 in OS26 was just a mess - but V7 in OS27 is actually like the good 'ol days of Bartender.

If there is anyway to tame Thaw (Alpha Preview), let me know - but I've now got a month of sensible menu bar action ahead of me.

I’ve found TextSniper to be more precise with certain characters (I, l, 1 etc). You can also scan QR/Barcodes along with keeping line breaks. It’s not a huge leap beyond what native OS can do, but it does enough that I always install it. For the price, I’d say it’s worth having in your Mac arsenal.

Reading about this on my phone, and installing on my Mac as soon as I’m home.

This is why I don’t understand why people think Raycast looks/feels more modern. I find the text too small in Raycast and you can’t change any of the look/feel. And I find the preference pane in Alfred quite manageable for such an epic amount of option. Raycast has become a never-ending scroll list.

For perfection, the option to paste those items individually (ie, cells in a spreadsheet), or all at once (ie, in Notes) would be amazing. A couple of ‘switches’ at the top of the window, to select how the pasting works, would be simple for a user to understand.

Is there a way to select item in a particular order and then paste in the order they were selected, rather than the order they were copied? This would save having to keep going in and out of the window to paste things in the order you need.

Trickster - https://www.apparentsoft.com/trickster - jump to the last saved/used file or folder. Tons of ways to filter. This app makes jumping around finding things so much easier. I save a file, open an email, and just drag the file from Trickster.

So odd. You don’t have the screen manager ‘Rectangle’ installed by any chance? That used to cause havoc with Illustrator on my Mac, for no apparent reason.

I can’t recreate this issue.

I’m using Mac OS26.5 (M1 Max) Illustrator 30.4 Raycast 0.60.1.0 (Beta)

I’ve also never had any issues with KM though - so there maybe something different on your system.

Fewer keyboard strokes to get things done in Alfred. Also being able to make your own drag/drop workflows is amazing (but with a bit of a learning curve). I spent a few months using Raycast Pro, but got super annoyed with having to hit a key for contacts search, a key for file search etc, when Alfred just seems to know what you are looking for from the get-go. I’d be searching for a contact in Raycast and then realize I’d forgotten to hit the ‘search for a contact’ shortcut and have to start again. It was enough to make me go back to cozy, ever-reliable Alfred.

This sounds like the work of a genius. I’m going g to give it a shot. Any chance you could put a shared link to the shortcut if it doesn’t share any private info from you?

I’ve been using this app for months - and yes; it pops up where your mouse pointer is. This save me a lot of time when dragging around files to open in different apps across two huge monitors. The developer was also incredibly responsive when the app first arrived and added a ton of features (sometimes within a few hours of throwing out an idea!). I use it waaay more than an app launcher - being able to drag files to a folder or open them in an app is super useful. I’ve tried both Kando and Pieoneer - but this app pulls off what it needs to simply and easily.

Totally with you - tag seems like sheer luck (I’ve got an 85% win rate, but it’s not through skill). Shipping is just not fun. Especially against the Ai - I can have a million boxes moving, the Ai drops one bomb and then I lose about 2 seconds later. I try to avoid playing these events.

There is a chance the option isn’t switched on.

Open System Settings (or System Preferences). Go to Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts. Select Keyboard from the left pane. Find "Move focus to next window" and click the current shortcut to change it to your preferred combination (like Command + ~).

I’m going to throw Canary into the mix. Ive been using it for a couple of weeks, and I’m really impressed. Clean, fast, good filters - even the Ai stuff has been useful.

Tried it, loved it, bought it. So far it has found updates on everything it was supposed to - and it’s got me doing research on Homebrew (I wipe my Mac and start fresh every couple of years, so this will really speed things up).

The lag! T.h.e l.aaaaaaa.g I can pull the trigger and feel I could get to the screen in person before the shot registers. You can ‘fast shoot’ as the shoot speed seems to max out, making some of the point blank games impossible. As for calibration, if I shoot multiple times the occasional’hit’ is miles away from the other ones. I really feel I’ve wasted my money on this.

Question - can you drag/drop files onto the circle (eg- drag a jpg onto a Photoshop segment?). This would be the killer feature for me.

scribblenik

Bloom - a genuinely great Finder replacement. Outpost - drag and drop files to apps from wherever your mouse is sitting. Supercharge - just an amazing collection of useful features.

scribblenik

Question: can you drag/drop files directly onto app icons to open them? Idea: add a tip jar - you aren’t charging, but good work deserves a reward!

scribblenik

The app that has changed how I use my Mac (and new for 2025) was Outpost (https://parachuteapps.com/outpost). Super handy for drag/drop launches, especially when you have two screens. ReWriteBar comes in second place. https://rewritebar.com/
