I view it as a huge hurdle my kids will have to deal with every day for the rest of their lives. I am much more positive than my wife but still have obvious concerns

seltzerforme

I am overwhelmed raising 2 autistic children and having a wife with major depression. I know she is also stressed. I try to make her life easier every day. No I do not have Autism.

Wow thanks for all the responses. I am definitely not currently planning on telling her my suspicions. At this point I feel it might do her more harm than good. Maybe if things with the kids settle down(ever). My son is 6 and very verbal and currently in Kindergarten with an aid helping him. He's doing quite well. My daughter is very delayed in speech she sings everything instead of saying it(Gestalt learning were have learned it's called) and we worry endlessly about her future. She has daily meltdowns and bangs her head intentionally on everything. We got them both into a great ABA school when they were 2 years old and it really has helped.

Thank you for sharing that. The one thing I don't want to do is throw any blame at her. I just want the family to function as well as it can. She's a mess and I' just hanging on. I go to therapy and am also on antidepressants since all of this started.

I have known her for 17 years. She reads the same book series over and over. When she takes up a new hobby she's laser focused and completely obsessed. She's highly antisocial. Smells, textures and noise freak her out. She loves the water. Constantly misses social cues. Meltdowns every month or so moreso since the children were diagnosed. I believe her sister is also on the spectrum. She has the same other symptoms that my wife has plus many more.. Every test for autistic traits I look at my wife would score incredible high on. I'm trying to help, not be a doctor. I would just love it if she might consider it and go get checked out. It could change the entire way her doctors treat her. She is under the impression that all she has is major depression but I suspect it all comes from her being neurodivergent. It just checks all the boxes.

seltzerforme

I worry she will think I'm blaming her for our kids having Autism
