Hi thanks for replying. It been great for me compared to using proprietary IDE project files. I like your realistic assessment!

Thank you for the references. I’m trying to do very similar things as cFS and FPrime. It’s great to see others coming to similar conclusions. Thank you.

This is fantastic writing. I really liked the style too. I like the thoughts about trade offs.

I really like the decrepitude of china town, and many other places of Los Angeles, that hides interesting and historic places. I once was able to go up to the second floor in some building there and there was a whole huge dining space that must have had a great former life. It was full of tables and I love to imagine the fun and excitement that people had going there in past times. When people keep that vibe and they are open it is magical. I hope it does open again as someone said, and I read yesterday about another famous bar and restaurant in downtown that just closed but will also be reopened. I hope they both keep the charm that I'm trying to describe.

Interesting. I feel like it is a good thing to free headsets, controllers and sensors from their vendor lock-in. As a user I would be happier if stuff like this was open source to being with.

The graphics, performance, music, dialog, story, gameplay, stability, etc. All very good.

This one messes with me a little bit. What possible evolutionary advantage does messing around have? Most people seem to do it, myself included, so it must be advantageous somehow. I think it could be energy conservation. If you are surviving without further effort, then you are free to mess around. Your genes still get replicated through reproduction, so more people exist like you in that regard (not you personally, but I have for example).
It hasn't been long enough for evolution to select more for completely non-lazy people, like the kind of people that make societal advances, medical advances, etc. Evolution only maybe has purview over more immediate concerns like just straight up reproduction. Maybe evolution never can, or doesn't have enough trials, and close calls, and culling based on that (I have no idea what I'm talking about for real though, just pondering out loud).
Maybe only culture can tune people to the level of what you are talking about. Of course, we already have enough pressure and we see what continued, excessive pressure does to people. So I don't really want that. Maybe it's fine, and leisure allows you to contemplate (like that period in history where technology allowed leisure time which lead to intellectual progress and not just subsistence living), and maybe something will strike you and you will get a undeniable passion. I have it from time to time, and I get big things done, nothing earth shattering, just bursts of excessive creativity in my job. I have to live with the fact though, that I am not a genius, and I guess that is what you are saying: I am not forcing myself to be a genius at all costs.
Please reply, help me think about this, hah!

If this is real, it shows the absurdity of the pasting of our world over the natural world to make it accessible.

I would love a game with Mexican culture. Keep it up. Also, give it way, way more FOV please, and widescreen support.

I know some people don't like CMake, but it seems to be gaining some (more) momentum. I hope the VS Code team keeps working on support for it even more like this.

Salem's lot, audio book.

For sure, good watching out, and good times to you!

Growing up going to Yosemite, from backpacking to camping to lodges. I'm sorry this happened, but I am glad you followed your instinct. I had a similar feeling at a hotel on a remote part of highway 1, where after checking in I found myself subconsciously evaluating rocks and stuff that I could use as a weapon on our way to the room. I mentioned that something seemed off to my girlfriend and she freaked because she was thinking the same thing. We left despite no refund (and a very creepy response to asking for one "oh, so sudden huh?!", took it up with credit card company later) and drove a couple hours to arrive late at an expensive place, but we were ready for anything after that - similar to your story. Well one.

I saw it recently and it was a supreme experience. The guy knows what he's doing, and he even kinda laughed because people were enjoying it so much.

My wife and I were just talking about these. No one seems to ever be in them, or walking around them. They are not human scale and it might as well be a freeway in between them. It's one of the worst areas for walking and life. Cars should be the things put in their own back corridors, with people and bikes being on the real corridors.

It's bad game mechanically, with bad FOV, etc., but Life is Strange got to me, and I'm an older person. It's probably because I felt the loss of my younger years and teen excitement, possibility, and kinship, etc. Also, the time period depicted in the game and the type of society was just after mine (I'm even older) so it hit. I was a nerd so there is sort of a small hole in me around social connection as a teenager, and being seen as fun and interesting, even though I had a ton of friends. It was the first game where afterward I wanted to go to some forums and kind of get some support, hah.

I came here to write this. You must not cede your knowledge to others. In my opinion, becoming technically knowledgeable is the only way to go through life. In my experience, my job has been, yes, about code, but also and more importantly, about system design and making something useful, and most importantly, about having the buck stop at me when issues arise. Whether AI is used to code or not doesn't affect your value as the person who makes it all work. It's a tool, like I suppose the ASIC layout and circuit layout tools that hardware people use (I don't know about them, but they do that don't they?). We are still in the driver's seat.

These kinds of places aren't very good for people because they are not human scale. You often feel when walking that you are taking weird and confusing paths, and very long ones in between anything you might want to visit. I would add the tall building in Costa Mesa to the list of such places, along with parts of downtown Long Beach. Why does New York feel different?

Yes. Cars have all the streets. Can the bikes have one or two, going vertically and horizontally, like the metro, and maybe only half of the street they are on, still have some cars maybe, but protected for real. Doesn't even have to be main arteries. See what happens. Cheap experiment for the future.

I can't find shoes that are as comfortable for being on my feet for hours, or taking public transportation and walking to events. They are just so comfortable. I caved and bought a leftover pair from Amazon against my no-Amazon edict. This only delays the need to find a substitute however. If anyone has found anything like these that look good enough and are so comfortable, then let me know!

I thought it was a Skyrim mod!

I'm sort of near retiring more or less in a few years. Getting involved in this kind of thing is on my list of new things to do. There was some program called "Shade is equity" or something like that. This is very important, and I also think we can do much better.

So this is going to build up this stuff over a few articles so we get an idea of how it works. I love it so far. Thank you!
My experience has been if you look at them they will talk to you.
