Don't worry about the calling part, just book it the easiest way possible.

I mean a two hour flight is less annoying than a five hour one... lot less potential for delays to pile up. That said I don't think these layovers are so bad, I'd go for it.

I think there's a lot of valid criticism of AI and generative AI, but most criticism I've seen is firmly out of date or fundamentally incorrect! Yes, AI is capable of generating new thoughts. Anyone saying otherwise is repeating mistruths they've seen online.

I generally agree; the process by which LLMs "learn" is way more analogous to how humans learn than just regurgitating what it's trained on. It's literally not possible that all human content ever created is compressed in the models - they're way too small! There's a limit to how much information can be compressed.

sheephunt2000

I can say confidently that current generation models are capable of generating new mathematical ideas - I'm a math PhD student.

sheephunt2000

Not true with current models. Ask any mathematician!

sheephunt2000

Large team based travel like this is probably the most defensible usage of a flight! This is not the same thing as private jet travel at all.

sheephunt2000

I meant the joke of the sketch, no?

sheephunt2000

I mean, I would have the same reaction if I had boygenius tickets....

sheephunt2000

Do you know why they don't fly to TCL instead?

sheephunt2000

Reconnaissance by Delta Air Lines.

Kidding; it's probably a sports charter. It's headed off for Birmingham later today, with the special 8xxx flight code used for charters.

sheephunt2000

It helps that Delta is not a fan of drawing traffic away from ATL, even if the airport is outside of the city proper. The O&D traffic in the area is also lower IIRC

Eliminating the cabotage routes helped for sure. But the US aviation market is very different than the EU market.

  • The US is a lot more sparsely populated, and so direct flights are already less crowded than EU. This is why hub-and-spoke still remains common here. There's also not really HSR here to provide meaningful competition, but that's a whole other comment.
  • Re: secondary airports: a lack of public transportation means usually the only option to getting to the main city are cars/rideshare, which eliminates a lot of the time and money benefit that a ULCC traveler would get. There are American airlines like Breeze and Avelo that are trying this kind of strategy and seem to be doing okay, but they're such small players at this point.

Ultimately, I don't really know the magic sauce to make it work - I'm sure Spirit would have loved to know the answer to this. To be fair to them their collapse was a bit more complicated than "the model was inherently broken" but the economics were already looking worse.

sheephunt2000

Are we really claiming Frontier is significantly more greedy than Michael O'Leary's Ryanair, lmao

sheephunt2000

Was this in the Northeast US? I'm pretty sure I saw this exact set on Marketplace, lol

sheephunt2000

Steam - North America!

This is a post I never expected to see here! The closest arcade with Chunithm is Gatcha at the Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody, and Round1 at Cumberland Mall and Starrcade in Kennesaw both have Chunithm. Unsure whether the Gatcha one is online (probably on a private server, knowing them). Starrcade is, and Round1 is not. You can browse on Zenius if you'd like.

I know I'm just an internet stranger, but let me know if you'd like to go sometime. (I mostly play maimai, though.) I miss having arcade buddies...

sheephunt2000

The review is good, go read it. They liked the game!

My point is more that being smart is not a sufficient condition to be at Princeton nowadays, with application numbers way higher than in 2009. Many, many, many intelligent students who are qualified to be there and can afford to go won't be accepted.

sheephunt2000

It's also possible for Greg Schiano to win against #6 Indiana this weekend, as long as the football team is prepared! If you look at the ESPN odds, Rutgers has a 4.4% chance of winning that game, which coincidentally happens to be the acceptance rate of Princeton last year.

sheephunt2000

I don't think this is accurate. Professors change all the time; I graduated in 2023 and there's already plenty of new faces in the math department that I never recognized. I never felt underfunded while I was there, and the graduate students there have some of the best teaching loads and salaries in any math department in the country.

Princeton and MIT certainly have good departments, but I'm not sure you're aware of how hard it is to get in. Realistically they will not get in - not a shade on OP, just the reality of the situation. (Plus, the undergrad culture of Princeton math sucks ass.)

sheephunt2000

My impression is that Rift is less like an OTA and more like an automated Google Flights/search engine. So they just list the airline price. Ignore what I said; definitely an OTA. I feel like OTAs often do charge the same price as the airlines? They're sometimes cheaper but not always; I just checked Expedia for instance and see this exact same price for this flight.

sheephunt2000

I didn't get it. Using Safari on MacOS

sheephunt2000

In my time there, they did their fair share of football ticket giveaways!

sheephunt2000

I really hope somehow the other SEC somehow gets involved. Can you imagine the discussion?
