"We will harass, detain, and deport brown people silently and with class so that most people won't have to see it and if they do they'll feel good about it" - The Democratic Party every election cycle as they try to convince us that optics are more important than material improvements.

until she became senator

We can tell you're too stupid to be having this argument and that you've never read anything real about her because you don't even know that she's not a senator and never has been.

This list is a good overly-cautious place to start, but you should double-check whether the services actually use PHP because it has mistagged entries. For example, Pihole is on that list, but it is very much not a PHP app, so you'd be waiting for a fix that will never arrive because it has nothing to fix.

Surely this is a bad troll and you're not actually this dense and overly literal, right?

silverslayer33

I see she made the same exact mistake as Mio-mama did many moons ago.

Got laid off on the first day of a vacation except HR didn't tell me (or my boss, even), I found out when a coworker texted me saying he didn't expect me to be on the layoff list too and I was like "excuse me, what" and had to call HR myself.

(except some latex related issues)

Even then, latex-free condoms exist in case either party has these issues, and they're not hard to find nor prohibitively expensive.

Congrats on moving goalposts, but if you want to play that game, a few points:

First, it's always been this way. Theater schedules have always been a handful of meh films accompanied by one or two blockbusters. You can go through any movie database like IMDB and see each year that there's an onslaught of mid stuff that you may have never even heard of interspersed with the highlights of that year. There's nothing special about the current cinema scene, aside from perhaps the horrifically inflated budget of some blockbusters in comparison to what they produce (looking at you, Marvel).

Second, theaters have contracts that they can't break and often they make them long in advance. For blockbusters they'll have contracts for multiple dedicated screens and all-day showings on those screens, and depending on popularity they may even get some additional showings on shared screens. The "meh" movies still require a minimum number of showings for a minimum period of time, or they might try to ensure they have showings at specific time periods in the day.

As sad as it is for us anime fans, all of this combined means there's little room for them to fit in showings when Crunchyroll comes knocking saying they've got the rights to distribute a movie in the US in 4-5 months and would like some screentime. Crunchyroll doesn't have the budget or negotiating power to boot out other distribution companies, even for the non-blockbusters, and they don't want to wait a year or longer since they'd be sitting on the rights not making any money when they could be streaming it and monetizing it in the meantime.

I'm sorry but this is the weebiest shit I've read all year, and I've said my fair share of weebshit myself. This year alone, The Odyssey was a critical hit, Spider-Man was a smashing box office success, Project Hail Mary received a lot of praise, and Dune Part 3 is expected to crush it at the box office and in critic reviews. There are plenty of excellent "mainstream" movies releasing every year, and even if they're not all to your taste there are still many that are considered amazing and are incredibly popular among both critics and the general population.

The moment where Luna broke character for a brief moment from how stunned she was is eternally burned into my mind.

It's not quite 50%, calculating odds for something like this isn't as simple as multiplying the number of packs by odds of each pack being a God Pack, as each pack would have independent odds of being a God Pack or not. Instead you would take the odds of not hitting a God Pack and raise that to the power of how many packs are opened to get the chance of not hitting a God Pack in that many packs, and then you can simply subtract 1 by that number to get the odds of hitting at least one.

So in the case of 480 packs:

(999/1000)^480=~0.62

1-0.62=0.38

So only ~38% chance of hitting at least one within 480 packs, which is still really high but not close enough to 50% to be rounding.

in our legal system he wouldn’t have had been held to the same standard as an adult

In many legal systems, minors will in fact be held to the same standards and tried as adults in serious cases such as murder. Depending on the charge, the prosecution may have to request that a minor's case be transferred to regular/adult court instead of juvenile court, but some crimes (mainly murder, and I think sexual assault as well) will automatically result in a trial as an adult in some jurisdictions without the prosecution even requesting it.

The network is there in 4.9.1 (though I don't use it because I have a wireless IoT network that I already set up before they added the feature) but there's no separate VLAN for it in that version. I only did a cursory look-through of the new 4.11 stuff before trying to restore and then ultimately downgrading, but the new VLAN page shows a dedicated VLAN for it and it uses VLAN ID 10 by default.

silverslayer33

I updated and actually had a terrible experience, presumably because I already had VLANs set up via LuCI/OpenWRT and it conflicted with the default settings of the new VLAN feature. Alas, I couldn't really do anything to confirm because I was completely locked out, couldn't connect via any wired port and wireless was failing to connect as well, so I had to factory reset and then downgrade to 4.9.1 to restore my backup successfully.

Basically, if you've already got VLANs configured, I'd be wary of this update. Particularly if you use VLAN 10, which I assume is the source of my woes - that was my primary VLAN for most of my network, but it's assigned as the default for the new IOT VLAN, so I'm guessing that's what did me in.

DPs are being told to shoot with the vertical video social cutdowns in mind for their framing. You can't do these incredibly close shots of someone's face because it can never be reframed properly to 9x16

At the risk of sounding like a bit of an out-of-touch old man, this sounds absolutely miserable. Gimping the creative process so that marketing people can feed more clip slop to people whose attention span doesn't extend past short-form TikTok/Reels/Shorts content feels like we've lost the sauce and are making things worse for everyone while feeding the endless brainrot cycle.

You would be correct, this was just posted last week. That said, this is a different translation from the one posted there.

Get on muh level in the northeast corridor where rainfall levels are always perfect!

My favorite part about this as someone who lives in the northeast is that our rainfall levels have very notably not been perfect for more than a decade now, we keep bouncing between disastrous floods and severe droughts ourselves but the fucking libs act as if we're still so much safer from climate change than the deep south right now because more is done to hide the effects from the average person up here. I don't even want to say "at least they recognize climate change is real" when they ignore the blatant signs that we're already on the same sinking ship as all the Texans they're condemning.

This is potentially the worst news I've heard so far today. Not that it was particularly good, especially in comparison to the local diners, but I'll be damned if that Denny's wasn't the site of multiple core memories from my time at RIT anyways.

As the other user mentioned, the curl team fixed the bug in question, and at my own employer we also fix the bugs like this that are reported. It's just that, for similar reasons to Daniel and the curl team, we're not issuing CVEs for them because we also have a broad downstream impact and there's no reason to spook downstream maintainers and waste their time on reviewing a CVE only to see that it's not actually an urgent security fix that's currently exploitable.
