They’re amazing and incredible but not memorable.

Is it really such an important criteria some people think it is... I'd disagree.

For example, there are a lot of themes and tunes (tv ad jingles, some pop songs) that have been living in my head for more than 30 years that I'd be very happy to get out of my head and never remember again. They're extremely memorable, and simultaneously they are awful and having them in my head is a torture sometimes, thank god they don't emerge from the lower layers of my memory bank too often.

At the same time, there are absolutely beautiful themes that I love, and they are hard to remember, they sound elusive and dreamy. So more reasons for me to re-listen to them more often.

See the child. He is pale and thin, he wears a thin and ragged linen shirt. He stokes the scullery fire.

I've never read McCarthy before, but now I want to, thank you. Not very often English prose clicks so well with me (not a native English speaker myself).

Planes cape torment

"The Incredibles" spinoff: a superhero drama series about superheroes being sucked by plane engines in their flight because of the capes they are wearing, despite all the warnings by Edna Mode.

It's surprising and concerning that those who left the top level comments did not hear this.

How could you forget about the added hiss and some lovely analog 50/60Hz? That's where all the magic lives! SMH

transferring sessions between designers

I've been in game audio since 1999 and weirdly this came up as a necessity only several times. And one of the times we needed it we hilariously could not get it working (Cubase or Nuendo project, I don't remember which).

That's also my favorite trick to nudging questionably recorded cymbals and especially hihats in the overheads if I don't like their spatial placement or phasing or sometimes even timbre. Allpass on one of the overhead channels, tune the central frequency and boom, sometimes the hihat just becomes so much better it's hard to believe.

Haas can be pretty acceptable in mono with some heavy allpass filters applied to one of the channels. Throw a disperser or pro-q or reaeq in allpass mode to the delayed channel and tune to taste while listening in mono. It won't be flawless, but it certainly will be better than plain haas.

You're forgetting Ruby Rhod in 5th Element. An absolute unit of whiny bitches, and at the same time the favorite character of the whole movie to a lot of people.

Did some searching and found this youtube demo, not an actual song but at least it's something.

It's like putting the first three strings of a guitar on the left, and the other three on the right...

That happened more than once, actually. Look for records of the stereo split pickups with Japanese Steico Spectrum 5 electric guitar or its bootleg Soviet copy Stella. I learned about it about 30 years ago so I absolutely don't remember the songs, but should be from the 1970s era.

For some reason I don't see this method mentioned, while it can produce really natural and punchy whooshes. Play a rain (or some other continous noisy sound like wind or ocean waves) over a speaker (you want a speaker with good highs), and grab a mic (with wind protection, otherwise it will be a low freq mess) and start whooshing it around in circles and in straight lines past the speaker with different speed. Try aiming the mic at the speaker's tweeter and in the peak pont of the movement arc try to let mic pass the speaker really close, almost touching it, that will minimize room reflections in the peak.

And a one definitely overcooked LUT to my taste, too.

Why? I'd say it's rather the direct opposite - a deliberate channelization of the newfangled refund fad. A nice example of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" and "divide and conquer" principles working together, and other indie games will get a break finally.

Steam will hate them, though. And I really hope they did a robust cheat protection system for the game.

The movie director, the writer, the cinematographer, the producers, the male lead actor - all Americans.

(Ok, ok, the director, the producer and the male lead is the same man, but who's asking)

that left a van in shot during a battle

Oh, so when Monty Python does this it's okay somehow, but god forbid an American does the same, right! /s

That's a sister in christ.

I personally prefer original voiceovers over anything else in general, as long as there are English subtitles.

There are some exceptions, like Witcher 3, they targeted English as their main voice language instead of Polish, and that led to unfortunate decisions like time-stretching Polish voiceover in certain places where it didn't fit the scene timing which was constrained to English, and it was quite bad sometimes. But apart from these situations, I would always choose the original voices.

I still can't forgive Blizzard for forcing me to play Diablo 3 in localized voiceover (voice language selection was available on PC, but not on the consoles for some stupid reason).

Hey u/Spare_Worldliness_64 thanks for the vid! Do you, by chance, happen to know which music was used in this short version? Thanks in advance!

sinepuller

There is a lot of different stuff going on in that recording, but if you're after that wishy-washy "space rock" sound, then you want a Phaser.

Did you try using DrivenByMoss?

Then you'd need to make the regular enemies not crowd around the player as much so they have that ability.

Or the reverse: ranged enemies can't shoot while the player is being crowded, otherwise they'll hit their own.

Reddit for some reason always shows me posts dated 8-16 hours old and I'm constantly late to the party in the comments. This is the first time in years I managed to be on time, haha.

At least not until after the Fire nation attacks.
