Ask Claude which tests are low value or duplicate test coverage and it can help identify them. You have to steer it more though. It’ll write pointless tests and slow tests when left to make the calls itself.
Other suggestions here are good too like using `--profile` and working through slow ones. But 30-60 mins is very slow and probably indicates something systemic so as a first step I would use profiling to identify the problem areas rather than individually optimizing tests.

It sure is. Floating point math. At such large scale that matters and they’re not deterministic.
In theory, theory and practice are the same and in practice they’re different.
sjs
Temperature zero doesn’t make them deterministic.

I think you have it backwards. People who cling to this history are the minority and fading more every year. Like you said, it’s history not the present.
sjs
I don’t need to acknowledge the history of cycling when I’m just trying to communicate an idea completely unrelated to said history. You might be surprised at who sounds foolish to more people in this “debate”.

Does smart complete fit the bill?

There’s an option to output JSON.

Note the $500 is a deposit and you get it back when you leave. You can also pay a monthly membership fee instead. Modo is good.
sjs
Yes that’s all true
sjs
You bet your ass that we expect the same code to run faster.
sjs
It’s been ongoing for about 2 years and floating point recently got a whole lot faster, about 10x

The JSON gem has gotten a lot faster since byroot (Jean Boussier) started maintaining it a couple years ago. Floating point parsing is 10x faster for example. https://byroot.github.io/ruby/json/2026/07/26/optimizing-ruby-json-part-8.html

My question is how are our cell signals so weak on our side of the water compared to the US ones? It’s bananas and makes no sense to me.
Also most of our phones do know where we are and where our SIM is from. It’s a niche problem so I don’t expect a fix but the info is all available to the phone most of the time.

AWS ElasticBeanstalk with some custom ruby scripts to pre-compile assets and upload them and the app to S3, and then deploy to both our queue worker environment and web server environment. You can run workers on your web server env too and I’d recommend that if your scale is small enough to allow it.
DB is RDS Aurora (Postgres flavour) and cache is Redis on Elasticache.
It all just works and I don’t get paged at night. Like once or twice in 8 years and all I had to do was wait for the network issue to be resolved by AWS. Oh and don’t choose us-east-1 because it’s always the region with outages.
Infra is all managed with Terraform and both infra and the app are deployed using GH actions.

I’d watch out for private chargers and non-existent chargers on plug share if it’s really important to charge. It’s mostly fine but I’ve been bitten a couple times and stick to abrp.
sjs
I just take my bike into the unit most of the time. The couple times I’ve used storage it’s been fine though. I locked it up in the storage room, didn’t just leave it there.
sjs
That’s just Canadian style no? But yeah it’s a style for sure. Not my thing but my partner loves it.

69 cents a pound! I’m still eating peppers

But they’re totally gonna pass that car going 5 km/h slower! Just give them another 30s! Oh wait it’s merging to a single lane and now you’re all behind the RV, sorry.

It rarely rains hard enough to get wet. We get more than a dribble like a handful of times a year. And we have half the annual precipitation of Vancouver. Victoria’s rain is way overblown because we get lumped in with Vancouver (and Seattle for Americans). Victoria being rainy is a myth in my mind.

I didn’t know this existed!

Did we go to the same place?! I’ve been there a lot, though I’ve never bothered with their food or drink and can’t comment on that side. Their free apples are yummy.
