FFS. Don't put your work on social. That goes for all you medfluencers, wannabe or otherwise, doctor or otherwise.
Makes me feel like an old person wanting to grumble about propriety.

In all seriousness, while I agree that S3 is the real uptick point, S2 still has a lot of great episodes: Q Who and Measure of a Man to name a couple.

How many people actually go through Avalon though? It's tiny.
smoha96
It was actually the collared uniforms and not Riker's beard!

Tbf, that volunteer firie who told Scott Morrison to fuck off was also a big Hanson supporter if memory serves.

I think David Mack is an excellent author, and his Destiny trilogy is peak, but it's clear he and the other writers were losing steam in the last 5-ish years before Coda (personally I thought Coda was rubbish). Part of it was the fact that as I understand it, they couldn't really go past the Romulan supernova but also I think they were just out of ideas. Voyager's Full Circle and TNG's Odyssean Pass arcs weren't really going anywhere.
He's certainly responsible for the mess that was Control. I can't think of a Star Trek novel that less exemplified Starfleet's values and the DSC team decided to adapt it for the show. Not great.
Mack's Cold Equations trilogy though, like Destiny were excellent.

It's so weird seeing Halo on a playstation. Really makes it feel like it's dead.

ECT is used any psychiatric setting that has appropriate access to it, has a large evidence base behind it, and is used for both voluntary and involuntary patients All patients undergoing it are safely anesthetised. It is nothing like what is presented in TV/movies.

I think if ON are popular enough to get 2 senate seats in a half election in Queensland, we're probably looking a 2-4 left-right split rather than a 3-3, in which case the LNP would probably still hold on to that second seat.

Australian here. Where I've worked we're taught to do 10 supervised and then crack on by ourselves, including overnight with the boss at home. Boss can be called for help if struggling but otherwise expected to be able to do it yourself.

Yes it was not part of the 2026 RMO campaign. They still ask what level and length of ICU, ED, retrieval and rural generalist experience you have.

Guitar, gaming, gym and as of recent: cooking; my algorithm is all cooking videos now.
smoha96
Gaming has long since become quite mainstream.

QARTS absolutely considers other levels of experience, including in other crit care specialties, and ethics applications are no longer part of the application tickboxes.

It can be done, several of my colleagues who I applied with as an SHO got on.
I did not. Took me another year as a PHO.
You basically have to fill every box, be good to work with and interview really well to make up for the experience gap.

It all makes sense, now!

What. Robot for emergency appies?
Fuck. Me.
What a waste.
Fastest laparoscopic appendix I've seen: 15 minutes from muscle relaxant to surgeon unscrubbing. Using the robot is absolutely taking the piss.

I do like this new tradition. I've said a few times over the years but for a show that is now nearly 40 (40!) seasons in, experimenting with the formula is the way to go.

Not a bad meta episode. I always thought they mishandled how Apu was taken out of the show and that they learned the wrong lesson. This episode goes some way to acknowledging that.
smoha96
Robot for appendix is completely unnecessary. A halfway decent surgeon would finish a laparoscopic one before the robot is even docked/set-up.

The evidence has been firm on this for a long time. As long as there are no signs of infection it can be kept in longer.
The people who seem to obsess over the 72 hour rule never seem to care about the impact it has on patients who are difficult sticks, or the workload of those who have to replace it.
A cannula no longer required should be removed though.
When have PHON ever held the sole BoP in any legislature's upper house? Even in 2016, when they won 4 seats at the DD, Coalition + PHON was only 34.
