Makoto Shishio from Rurouni Kenshin, he has all those bandages because the Japanese government tried to execute and burn him alive but he somehow survived with a bunch of hideous burns and scars.
He serves as the antagonist of one of the arcs of the manga/series where he aims to overthrow the Meiji government.

There definitely is character development, but you have to stick around for a bit to see it happen.

March Comes in Like a Lion, does a very good job of portraying depression. Not the main theme but it is an especially important one.

I might be one of the only people who actively disliked the 2nd season.
Loved the first season, was only able to get through 8 of the 12 episodes of season 2. Part of it is I absolutely hate one of the characters that gets introduced in Season 2 and the constant exposition dumping annoyed the fuck outta me.

Yeah radiation therapy can be a great option too, I just wonder how bad the metastasis or stage must be for them to have ruled it out or not even tried it. Or perhaps they did and he did not respond well.
Could be the extent is so large that surgery/laryngectomy was the first-line option his doctors recommended but he refused due to the significantly worsened quality of life he would have after it.
At the end of the day I am an internal medicine doctor, not an oncologist nor do I have his chart in front of me, so I can only hypothesize.
But I am sure his oncologists must have explored all of the options available to him (surgical resection, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, or a combination of these options) along with the experimental and clinical trials he could be eligible for, and after that may have ultimately decided neither of them were worth it.

Japan might be the only place where it unironically would work, they are absolute sticklers for the law and public image there.
I think your average Japanese salaryman would piss their pants buying contraband tobacco products.

Hell fucking yeah brother, inshallah we will be seeing legal heroin and methamphetamines hitting our streets soon 🙏

Not necessarily, palliative care and hospice care are different things, at least in the US not sure about Japan. Can think of a circle with palliative care and within it a smaller circle with hospice care. Hospice care is palliative in nature but not all palliative care is hospice care.
Palliative care simply means the goal is to minimize pain and provide comfort for a patient living with a serious condition. How long a patient may have left can vary though, sometimes a couple days, weeks, months, even years depending on the disease. Patients may still receive life-sustaining treatment as part of palliative care. Because there are many diseases that require palliation...think Stephen Hawkings for example, folks with cerebral palsy, other chronic and lifelong diseases that can suck to live with.
Hospice on the other hand is what people think of as focusing on the best quality of life as the patient starts to approach the end. Needs a prognosis of less than 6 months, for that the goal is to make sure the patient has the best remaining weeks/months they can before they pass away. Less restrictions on giving high dose pain, sleep, sedative medications.

Any intervention would likely not be worth it, if they did something surgical would likely need to remove his pharynx as well as surrounding areas which likely means he would be unable to speak properly again and probably reliant on tube feeds since they would likely take out parts of his esophagus as well depending on the extant of the metastasis. Not a great way to live at all.
Other option would have been immunotherapy, but he received a heart transplant and probably is on a ton of immunosuppressive drugs for that. These immunotherapy drugs have a whole list of side effects, one of those is that they are very toxic to the heart and for someone like him with a transplant the possibility of that happening is higher.
At this point, best option is to just discuss your goals of care while you are still lucid and sane enough to express your wishes to others, what you want to get out of the remaining year or two of your life, and pass away peacefully with your friends and family beside you when the time finally comes.

No bro you don't understand he is a young socialite, he trained through his entire childhood and teenage years and got to the highest level of professional basketball in the world merely as an elaborate prank to fund his fishing career

That fucking blows dude wtf. Genuinely feel horrible for him.

I wish, but I genuinely don't think they publish this data. I've been looking for it for a while now and at this point I assume it isn't reported.
If I can figure out the right person to contact who makes these reports, if I have the time I'll just straight up send them an email as a suggestion that it would be nice if they could include this as part of the aggregate report for this year's fellowship application cycle.
solarscopez
This doesn't tell you how many interviews you need to match though, it tells you the percent of applicants who matched at their #1, 2, 3 or ≥4th choice on their rank list.
solarscopez
I think he means in terms of how competitive they are, it is far far easier to match into peds GI compared to adult GI.
solarscopez
I think they do this for residency applications, but not for fellowship

Should always be a Summer release imo

Mahoyo is probably the one Fate series entry that you can watch completely on its own without having any real knowledge of the universe.

I'm a doctor and it has always been crazy to me how much shit the younger and more attractive female nurses get from the older female nurses.
Same thing I've noticed with my other female co-resident physicians, especially from the older female nurses as well. Probably more-so because they are not only younger and more attractive but also will be more successful too.
Like I'll interact with these older female nurses and things are fine, then I ask one of my female co-residents who are like wtf she was an absolute bitch to me. Like we were talking to completely different people lol.
solarscopez
Yeah I think that was it.
With the amount of manga chapters we have right now, we have enough content to adapt up to a season 5 (assuming each one is 12 eps).
Yeah dude, Steph the NIMBY is a good one.
The actual answer is that none of them are "good ones" lmao, they are multimillionaires (who did admittedly work hard to get their money) but people will always serve their own interests, which unless there are other multimillionaires on here, likely do not coincide with ours.
People gotta stop idolizing millionaires.
