you're onto something

somekool

c'est vrai... et c'est encore pire que ça

somekool

somekool

they are no longer victims then, we're not supposed to take justice into our own hands

OP is talking about the fact legal defense is expensive, stressful, costly and leads to absolutely no real rewards... it's machine that gives the illusion of justice and the problem is much bigger than gropping

corporate abuse on employees.

data privacy breach by corporations via 3rd party "consulting" companies

the problem is much deeper. corporations are free to do whatever they want, including paying for CEO kids tuition

but people? humans? no countries offer true protection for humans

and liberties are disappearing

I think we have all been lied to and it's time we realize it

somekool

because the US population is already under control. don't need that measure

somekool

it might be P2P when more people run relay... post via Tor. sync via git ? encrypted blobs ? what is a social network?

A dude who starts the next friendster/myspace/Facebook??

or a network of people living in a society?

nostr isn't media

the world is social

the government doesn't work for the people

human first

somekool

they present it like a mistake... spoofed email? government got attached? Revolut now acting as a bank with regulations I presume sent all the data by SMTP encrypted?? and we're supposed to fall for that?

people watching the news sure... but it's fabricated story. it was meant to leak... do you really believe they made suck trivial mistakes. all corporations makes everything super hard nowadays except for filling meeting rooms with people who can't make good changes

CBD is announced to become illegal June 1st... are you forced to close your store and discard all inventory? how early did you get notified for the change? it's quite brutal for stores who pay rent and have little profit at the end of the month

every apps minimize to task bar.

Only some minimize to the systray. is that what you mean?

somekool

Gnome is very hungry on CPU

Plasma is light as a feather 🪶

somekool

Probably no fast and furious solution no...

Have you thought of including the error you are getting in your post?

Do you always get the same error?

somekool

Love it...

somekool

No, it is just the term... "sleep walking" is for retards

LinPhobe with VoIP.ms

What do you mean? What is the goal of your question? Why is it you're trying to prevent? Why do you think you are screwed?

It depends where you live... Some countries or cities offer great wifi everywhere... No need for a sim card.

Some other places... It's much harder

For audio calls, telegram and Whatsapp are not to be trusted...

Session or SimpleX are the strongest at the moment. Signal if they could remove the requirement on the phone number... Whatsapp and telegram same holds true...

You want to get rid of your SIM card? What happens with your phone number?

VoIP my friend... Keep your phone number, allow you to do regular phone calls. Even SMS in some cases and get rid of the SIM card.

Some devices have a jumper to turn off the GPS cellular tower if you rely solely on wifi... At this point... A phone is probably not the best purchase you could make

Yeah, this is true. I want to add a few details. If you start with Ubuntu and you don't care about keeping Gnome and other software that you would not have on Ubuntu, then you prefer to be on Ubuntu server.

If you want to have a minimalistic approach and actually not install everything that's on either Ubuntu desktop or Kubuntu desktop, then you can start with Ubuntu server and install only the packages that you want. The more picky you are, the more manual work you might need to do, to configure your system to be kind of flawlessly working as it is set up with Kubuntu.

Then actually what makes a difference is how you install Plasma. If you only installed Plasma workspace or Plasma desktop with different apps versus if you installed Kubuntu desktop and then you can remove the default Ubuntu desktop and then remove the optional packages that are like laying around

It is possible to do like a full switch.

In 2010 I installed Ubuntu Server and Plasma on top and eventually I installed the kubuntu-desktop package. Before you do it's fun to actually look at the packages that comes with it and review what you might not want. You don't need to. Just find it to be an interesting exercise.

During the KDE 3.x era, I was using Gentoo and I was literally addicted to compiling it from SVN source. And yeah, that's much more dangerous, slippery slope for your time

In 2015, I got a laptop on which I installed archlinux

In 2018 I got a new laptop on which I installed the latest Kubuntu 17.10, which I upgraded 13 times to 24.04

In 2024, I got a new laptop and installed Fedora on it, because of snapd

I tried to degoogle in 2019-2020 and it was quite hard... Luckily today, it is much easier

I had rooted my phone and installed multiple AOSP clones without Google services

Google photos was a hard one to replace

I use Synology local NAS now, not perfect but it works

Google Maps is the obvious difficult one .. I had tried all options I could find.

And I found Offline Map navigation

Again not perfect but it works

For keyboard I use AnySoftKeyboard and Sumire in Japanese and whisper+ for voice input

I hope you don't use Signal/Session/SimpleX while sending audio recording of your text via Google Gboard?!?

Translator vers 0.2.3 is what is used for quick translation

Duck.AI for privacy LLM until I run my own

I am glad to meet other fan of this era. there is a display bug that I believe is caused by a change in Xorg from XF86, before a permanent root window was to be expected. not anymore. so e13.3 as it is needs a patch to run properly on Xorg. something I have been meaning to do ... eventually...

somekool

thanks a lot... definitely curious to hear what you find.. I spent a lot of time looking ... but never could

somekool

You couldn't phrase it better... I wish more people would understand how much old moves get recycled...
