You’re in a bubble.

I kind of hope people get their wish and tourists stop coming. Then the local economy will completely collapse and after the mass exodus out of Hawaii of people who can no longer afford to live here, maybe I’ll finally be able to afford a house.

These locals on TikTok doing gods work.

It’s over $6 trillion. But yeah, Elon should take this on himself… 🙄

Anyone who thinks this problem can be solved for $6bn… just don’t even know where to begin.

This is just categorically false.

That’s the point. IQ test failed.

I’m genuinely shocked this is so hard to understand. He was addressing people — including republicans — who are against the war. He’s justifying the war. The cost of war and the rise in gas prices is a small price to pay.

Like I said: IQ test.

What was “a small price to pay”? What is the price?

soviyet

Deliberately misunderstanding what Trump said has reached a new point of absolute absurdity. This is an IQ test and many very smart, very influential people are failing badly.

High gas prices are a small price to pay for the security of cities like LA and SA, which Iran could nuke if we don’t take them out now. That’s literally what he said. You are deliberately obtuse if you say otherwise.

Honestly been shaking my head in complete disbelief since this whole thing took off.

I bought a bag of red onions at Costco yesterday for 5.99. A 2lb bag of white onions at target yesterday for 2.99.

You are terrible with money, I’m afraid to tell you. Don’t buy onions at Foodland farms not on sale.

And yet nothing happened…

Thank you! That's kind of what I was thinking -- surf sup for Waikiki and a little bit longer board for cruising around the bay after work...

soviyet

I'm sure this has been asked a million times. I read the wiki and I have a good idea of what I want to get (something between an all around board and a larger surf paddle board I think, hard body board, not an inflatable) but I have a few specifics I'm hoping someone can help with. I guess I'm looking for some specific brands/models that I can find used.

I live in Hawaii and plan to get a hard body SUP I can take out both on the windward side of Oahu (Kailua mostly, would love to paddle over to the Mokes occassionally, which I think is about a 30 min trek by paddle board or kayak) and also take it out in Waikiki and Ala Moana into small surf -- I'd like to be able to ride tiny waves with it, definitely not looking to do anything super big, but it would be nice to be able to turn the board.

Boards go up for sale on FB marketplace so I'm mainly looking for some suggested boards that would be good for me to keep an eye out for. Dont need to go budget or anything most of the used boards I see are a tiny fraction of the full new price. Common boards out here on the used market are Blue Planet, Starboard -- occasionally see some Naish boards that look nice.

I'm around 5'11, Usually between 180-190lbs. I know I'm looking for an all around board -- I would like to be able to catch some small Waikiki waves on it but also be able to paddle around the calmer bays (Kailua bay is pretty big, Kaneohe bay same -- very little waves if any usually). Not at all opposed to buying two boards if one board isn't going to be great for both areas and uses.

Any suggestions? 🙏

We live here and stay in Waikiki about once a month. Moana Surfrider and Royal Hawaiian are favorites. Sheraton is perfectly fine, and Outrigger is really nice after the remodel.

Would pass on the Hilton.

The Marriott has nice views, although it isn't technically "beach front" (there is nothing in front of it, but Kalakaua separates it from the beach so technically not beachfront).

Your second day is very optimistic. If you plan to hike to the top of diamond head AND see Pearl Harbor... that's a lot.

Same with day 3. Before I moved out here, me and my wife did your day three on a vacation -- stopped at Lanikai and the Temple, then drove up the coast to Haleiwa for dinner. Exhausting, and we spent maybe 15 minutes at Lanikai, raced through the temple, and luckily caught a sunset dinner before driving back in the dark. Would have definitely done Kailua/Kaneohe as one day, North Shore as another.

If you do come out to Kailua, personally I think Over Easy is much better than Cinnamons.

Well first, I'm not sure how you got "we're foodies" from "I wouldn't necessarily consider us foodies" but ok.

Hilo has some very great restaurants. Sorry you have never been to any of them I guess?
