I agree with the bfk suggestions, unless the route is particularly wandering. Your main issue is edge protection, repeated rubbing is going to shred your slings.Use protection!!!!

If you're fine with an down and back up again then would recommend heading to one of the llyns to camp, much better that battling up high and you can cover more ground instead of stopping really early at foel grach

squid0002

The top of the carneddau is all rocky ground, you'd struggle to pitch a tent well enough to withstand any wind up there

Chest Harnesses are a great add on for people with an undefined waist. Holds the waist up and will hold people in from the top in case of an invert.

Just choose any harness that fits her measurements and then just combine the 2

Melt burger & fries £2.99. Can't go wrong. The bbq chicken one is ace

Don't discount second hand gear if you're looking to go cheap. Metalwork lasts years and is fairly simple to check. Pretty much all of my metal gear is from Ebay and kit sales for ridiculously cheap. Obviously soft goods is a different ballgame but dogbones are really cheap from sites like alpinetrek and trekinn once you have the krabs

Cleaning mud off of gear/clothes/ourselves

I worked in b&q when I was 17, the evening and weekend till shifts were almost entirely covered by teenagers. Seems to work pretty well for them having the week daytime with older people and teens filling in the gaps. Pretty good company to work for, I was always happy

squid0002

Also remember there is a footpath instead of joining the hoards of idiots walking up the road

Multiple bottles, one with a source convertube attached to turn it into a bladder setup. Best of both worlds

Vango still do them, might just be for their higher end tents now though. Got a repair kit with my f10 helium last year. Included a patch of each fabric, repair tape a pole sleeve.

I've got the vango f10 helium ul2 which is the same fabrics just different pole configuration. I've taken it out in December where it got to -3 overnight and was perfectly comfortable. I used the rab stratosphere 4 mat (r value 3.8) and North face blue kazoo bag (Comfort -7). Your set up is probably warmer than mine thanks to your mat so you'll be fine in all seasons. Just make sure you tension the tent properly and pull the fly as close to the ground as you can to stop the wind blowing under

Stay away from uk army surplus, especially the newer stuff. 'Military grade' means sold to the cheapest bidder, it's trash quality and fits nobody properly. Personally I love revolution race and fjallraven trousers, fairly spenny but can find on sale for a decent price. Been climbing, hiking and camping regularly in them and they have held up really well

Most private student halls offer summer accomodation, I stayed with iq in Plymouth (pretty sure they have halls in bristol) and it was about £1000 from July to September. Will defo cost abit more in bristol but will be cheaper than a hotel. You'll have access to a kitchen too so you won't spend as much on food as you would staying in a hotel

Camping cots aren't actually that comfortable and are not insulated, people just like them because they're off the ground so simulate a real bed more. Also the only tents that realistically have the height to accommodate a cot are large family campsite tents. If your mother can get up and down from the floor id reccomend a proper inflatable pad that's at least 8cm thick, with a reflective pad underneath for extra warmth.

If she can't get up from the floor I'd say wildcamping is not a great idea, try a 'nearly wild' campsite or something like campwild where you can take a big tent and be able to get her out quick if needed.

I recently took my aunt on a dartmoor wild camp, it went pretty well but I've learnt some thing from it. The cold affected her much more than expected, whatever setup you think is warm enough, add an extra layer. Bring earplugs for her to sleep with, there's a lot of weird noises overnight that can be scary to someone who's never heard them before. The mornings can be very cold so get a hot drink on immediately and make sure she's wrapped up with a good jacket, hat and gloves while you deal with tents and gear

My A-level geography project on the gentrification of church road suggests otherwise

squid0002

I have been known to tape my hearing aids to my head when I forget my headband. Gotta do what you gotta do 😂

squid0002

The scraper bit on the other side to the brush twists off to fill the bottle. It's quite hard to do first time but comes off easily after that

squid0002

The one benefit of driving a 22 year old car 😂

squid0002

I have the same set, from a charity shop too. My car has a cassette player and they're perfect to listen to on a long drive

squid0002

Vango f10 helium ul2

squid0002

My climbing buddy wears eb split shoes, they're sold as singles so you can buy two different sizes. Worth a try if you can get hold of them

squid0002

Would advise camping up a tor for the best spot, unlikely to be boggy and can tuck into the leeward side of the rocks for some shelter.

Try and stick to the paths as much as possible when you're hiking, this time of year if it isn't a path its most likely a bog and you ain't getting through

squid0002

Fabrics plus in Downend has some nice stuff

squid0002

Or if feeling lazier, just open the toppings/dressing straight into the bag, give it a shake and enjoy
