SynthID is a two part system.

During generation, an algorithm fudges the statistics on what token is generated next. The model itself has no idea SynthID exists at all, it doesn't need to. SynthID is a layer on top of it.

During detection, it checks for the statistical differences.

They have added the ability for the model itself to use a tool to check if SynthID finds a watermark, but the model itself is not doing the checking.

They are fuzzy on specific details to make it harder to reverse engineer and break, but there are enough details to get a general idea of how it works. They are not relying on the model itself to determine if something has the SynthID watermark.

The detector is not an AI. The detector is algorithmic. You seem to greatly misunderstand how SynthID works.

stumblinbear

That's literally not how it works. Synth ID is algorithmic.

stumblinbear

Nah, you'll just get perma muted

This topic keeps coming up and it's wild that literally nobody botheres to just check the historical averages for <insert month>. Every single time.

Is it a bit higher than it was a hundred years ago? Yeah. But it's not that much of a difference.

Amazon's consumer side is retail, but their actual money comes almost entirely from AWS.

stumblinbear

Where does it say they let it carry on? If I found it doing this, I would tell it and see if it attempted to continue, but not let it do so. I don't see a problem with that.

stumblinbear

I only get this when I'm absolutely baked as fuck

stumblinbear

Yeah, people who aren't stupid enough to believe it are already convinced, you don't need to do anything

I'm a software engineer. I've written Minecraft mods before. The explanation makes literally zero sense, there's no way in hell taking a screenshot resets a random variable or causes a timer to jump multiple hours.

Shit, the game even has a screenshot function built-in. Which doesn't do this.

stumblinbear

Insane take

stumblinbear

Yeah, everyone here has rose tinted glasses. I didn't see any change in how good Fable was pre or post ban.

stumblinbear

I can't do this. I can't actually visually remember anything, so if I don't put something back where it's supposed to go right away, it's gone forever

stumblinbear

GO CEILINGS!!!!

Ah, sorry, I'm just a huge ceiling fan

stumblinbear

I blew through my usage to use my reset yesterday by having a dozen agents comb through my transcripts to find my most common corrections so I could tweak my skills to catch more things

stumblinbear

Been doing it nearly every day since I was twelve, so 18 years. Will be a sad decade if the field nukes itself out of existence

stumblinbear

I can't imagine doing anything else. But the tech is also really fucking cool. But also I worry I'll have to switch fields entirely. Shit situation all around

stumblinbear

??? More people being up shit creek?

stumblinbear

Unfortunately it's not accurate. They had already broken through the barrier more than a year before DOGE due to cattle smuggling. And they were only making enough flies to cover the gap, not to stop any spread beyond that

stumblinbear

Yeah and Gemini's STT is fucking hot garbage

stumblinbear
stumblinbear

It more looks like it's incapable of doing it properly

stumblinbear

At 0:15, why would it land and pause before rolling. That entirely misses the point of the roll: to help absorb the impact. Here it just takes the full brunt of the impact and rolls purely for style points, which looks fucking stupid

stumblinbear

I don't really play any games other than single player ones

So I'm going to guess Warframe

stumblinbear

Or a dozen times
