Yes- pregnant with my 2nd and pregnancy brings up my mom stuff severely (reading understanding the borderline mother right now, my mom is hermit-esque). I’ve always had great female therapists that sort of fill that mother role, not like in a dependent way just it’s nice to have an adult woman who listens to me and is empathetic lol.
But starting your own family I think also just pushes you into a new phase of adulthood where you cultivate motherly qualities and can sort of re-parent yourself as well and learn to put yourself and your kids first.

I’ll add that I’m a therapist and have worked with 3 year olds- hitting would be a common presenting problem. So don’t be afraid to look into play therapy or family therapy! Obviously it’s not them talking it out, the therapist can help teach you how to manage behaviors and they can work on it in session with them. I don’t want to give professional advice over the internet of course but I’ll say the gentle parenting approach might be setting up for a power struggle where the child is testing boundaries, sort of sensing that they actually have more power than you- something that isn’t great as they need structure and need to know the parent is in charge. Maybe look at more behavioral based approaches. I just scanned through this page but this all looks like helpful advice!

Notice that they mention transitions- diaper change is kind of a transition since it’s just happening for a few minutes. So it’s an easy time to act out. Also maybe it’s time to potty train (sorry I’m not trying to add on even more stress!!).
